I stayed here in April 2021 after the building came under management of Vacasa.
Upsides: Beds were super comfy and the unit was clean and well set up when we arrived. Lots of towels and extra linens. The check in/parking pass process was super easy and COVID-safe. Luggage dollies were easily accessible and made getting settled quick and painless. The balcony was spacious and nice to get fresh air even on days that weren't great for hiking. It was convenient to get to many trailheads within the park. The jetted tub was perfect for sore feet after hiking.
Downsides: The biggest: no recycling in the unit. Other than that, there were just a few minor inconveniences keeping this from being 5 stars for me. The washer in our unit had a very mildewy smell and we had to re-sign in to the wifi every 12 hours or so. While the kitchen had many of the cooking implements we would need, and a couple powdered coffee creamer packets were provided, there was truly nothing else in terms of basic staples/seasonings for cooking. In my experiences with other vacation rentals of this caliber there is usually at the very least salt available. On the plus side there is a small store within walking distance that had salt and pepper dispensers for sale.
Things to be aware of that didn't factor into my star rating: To get to any of the trails I had to do some clever navigation to avoid the traffic hell of downtown gatlinburg. For many the proximity to town may be a good thing, and if you plan to do a lot of activities in town the location is perfect, but if you're coming to the area for primarily hiking/exploring the park, I'd find something more remote. There isn't a grocery store in Gatlinburg and you have to drive 30ish minutes to get to the nearest trail anyway, so there isn't a lot of benefit to being...
Read moreWe recently stayed at baskins creek condos and unfortunately the condo we stayed in was sub par at best. We stayed in unit 311 for 4 nights and did not have a great experience. The unit is not updated at all very old furniture and appliances. Our dining light was out when we entered the first day and there is such little light in the family area we pretty much ate in the dark the first night. Thankfully the maintenance folks were great and they showed up the next morning and fixed it. The TV remotes in the family room and second bedroom did not change channels unless you were lucky and the TV decided to change the channels for you, you were out of luck changing stations. The AC never cooled below 74 degrees so that needs to be checked/replaced. The dishes and cutlery and all the appliances were from the 90's very old needs to be replaced. As mentioned before not enough lighting throughout the condo so that needs updated. The water in the bathroom sinks did not drain properly. We have a toddler with us so using the condo was important and everything was again sub par at best. Oh the outlets were so loose that you could not plug your phone chargers without the plugs just falling off the outlet. The TV cabinet in the master bedroom did not open fully so it blocked your view of the one channel you were watching because the remotes did not change channels.
The location is great and the property overall is great with ample parking. The property is very clean overall elevators alittle slow but overall not anything to complain about. The two star rating is for the property as I would give unit 311 zero stars unfortunately
We wish we would have picked a better condo as we will stay at this property again but...
Read moreOverall, this is the perfect place to stay in Gatlinburg. Although I cannot account for each condo, there is nothing I can complain with the unit we rented. Our group is a a tad...let’s say obsessive about cleaning. We had a two bed/two bath. After wiping down both baths/bedrooms AND kitchen with cleaning wipes there was literally no dust or grime on them. Impressive! We stayed at the end of April so we couldn’t take advantage of the fireplace, but that is certainly a nice, unexpected addition. In terms of location, this is likely one of the best places to stay at. In three minutes you are in the midst of the “strip”- by walking mind you! For reference purposes, you walk down the hill into Ole Red, Subway, and No Way Jose. The reason for four stars, while it may seem minute, is for a few reasons. The women at the front desk seemed to have a problem with staring...and not just a few seconds. I am talking about for a full 20-30 seconds stare at my wife as though she came from a different planet. Also, they made it clear multiple times they would not be on site for the weekend. Ok, got it! If we run into issues we need to contact the individuals we rented from. Also, there were literally no trash cans throughout the entire property!!! When you arrive, stay, and leave, you’d be surprised at how many times you are in need of throwing away items. We literally had to walk across to another hotel as we were walking downtown to throw away items. Just strange and ill-managed from that perspective. And once again, although minute this issues create more problems than you can imagine. If I could give 4.5 versus 4 I would. Bottom line, come here. Enjoy your time. Bring some bags to put trash in and keep them...
