Well letâs start by saying we stayed in condo 601 black bear boogie. Sleeps 6 it states, but 6 people in this condo is very tight. There are 5 of us(4 adults and an 11 year old) we were not comfortable, forget trying to watch a movie together in the living room, not enough seating. The pull out couch is pathetic, the mattress is about 2 inches thick and there is a major downslope on one end. |Eating meals is also not possible, there is no table only a coffee table and itâs not big enough for food. There is another table/desk pushed up against the wall that you could use for eating I guess but there are no chairs just a small 3 foot bench that 2 people could sit on. Itâs all very uncomfortable. ||The main bathroom in the hall has a child size toilet, literally!! If youâre tall, which my family is, then you pretty much fall onto the toilet. Not comfortable. ||Tiny little kitchenette, it works but if you plan to cook donât! There is no counter space. There is a coffee maker which is stated under the amenities and we were super excited to not have to bring our coffee maker from home but when we went to make coffee the first morning there were no coffee filters, so I advise you to BRING coffee filters for the coffee maker since they donât supply them for you, oh and they would be the round filters FYI! ||Master bathroom was a nightmare. Walked in and there were a million ants on the floor. Donât know where they came from, there wasnât a trail anywhere. We cleaned them all up and cleaned the floors, but still we would find at least 10-20 ants multiple times a day everyday! On our last night we walked into the master bathroom to find 3 millipedes on the floor, yuck!! Again we have no idea where they were coming from, there is no window in the bathroom. The best part is that there is no staff in this complex. We stayed for 1 week and not once was there anyone in the office. The doors were locked the whole time. We called the contact number for the condos and they were absolutely no help! |You are informed to get a parking pass for your vehicle but you canât because there isnât anyone there to give you one. When we called to ask about it we were told to just put our full name and phone number with our room number on a piece of paper and leave it on our dash. Umm, NO! ||There is a laundry room with about 5 washers and dryers. Washers cost $2 and dryers cost $1.50. There isnât a coin machine so make sure you bring your quarters. They also donât have detergent or dryer sheets to purchase. You need a code to get into the laundry room, we were never given the code so once again we had to call to get the code. ||Oh, there arenât any hangers in any of the closets either, so if you want to hang up any of your clothes then you need to bring hangers from home! ||One last thing, when we got to our condo the smell of Indian curry was so bad it stayed for 2 days before the smell went away, the air filters in this place were beyond filthy. Doesnât look like they have ever been changed. ||The location is great, you can definitely walk to the main parkway it would be all downhill and back uphill about 2 blocks, or you can drive and just pay for parking. The strip is very long with lots of stores restaurants and entertainment you will definitely want...
Read moreWe go to Gatlinburg alot, but we haven't been there for the Christmas parade since the fires. We always go with my husband's son and wife, and we usually get 2 hotel rooms...not this year. I decided to go for a condo, since the prices were about the same. We were originally put in Olde Gatlinburg Place condos, but the day before I got a phone call that there was a maintenance issue and we were being moved to Laurel Inn room 401. I did my research and saw good reviews, so I was looking forward to it. Upon entering, it is smaller than I thought it would be, but it was CLEAN, smelled good and it's on the corner so our balcony had 2 views: Anakeesta on one side and the Sky Bridge & Space Needle on the other. We could even see the tram. What a treat to see those lit up at night!! We even got to see a bear below Saturday night! There were plenty of towels, albeit they were a little thin like a hotel, but they did the job. They have blackout curtains so the rooms are dark at night. And luckily they had coffee filters because I forgot mine! I hope to reserve this condo again! There was such a comfort in having a âhomeâ instead of a âroomâ...and I got to spend more time with the family. The walk to downtown is about 8-10 minutes...depending on how you walk, but I didnât mind. My husband has bad knees, so the steps were a little rough for him going up (steps are faster). It was quiet in the morning and beautiful to see at night with all of the Christmas lights. The only negative is that they need a new wireless router because the internet was down, but luckily I had my hotspot on my phone. Water pressure is great (they provide soap & hair dryer), master bedroomâs bed was comfy to us. Daughter-in-law said their bed was a little soft, but they are used to a tempurpedic, so everything seems soft to them. All in allâŚWonderful experience! I am hooked on condos instead of rooms now! Everyone is SO nice there. Take a chance on 401 and Laurel Inn Condos! You...
Read moreWe stayed at Laurel Inn on Holly Ridge in unit 402. We spent 4 nights, and this was our first visit to Gatlinburg, Tn. It was my husband and me. Overall we had a great time.
Positives Very clean Updated Easy to find Very quiet Comfortable bed Nice pool Nice jetted tub in the room
Close to downtown - However you need to be in pretty good shape. To get downtown, you have 2 options. The first is to take the long staircase down on the back side of the Inn. You will come out at Ripley's Believe it or not odditorium. The second is the road in front of the Inn. You will come out at Anakeesta. Getting downtown is easy (Unless you have a stroller or wheelchair etc.) because it is downhill. The walk back is steep and tiring. We are in decent shape, and I grew to hate walking back. This is the only reason I would not stay here again. It was rough on me. To give you an idea, I am 37, with some minor health issues. I am currently having problems with oxygen due to blockages in my sinuses. We took this trip because Iâm having major surgery to correct this in a couple of weeks.
Negatives No one was ever in the office. Not enough towels and washcloths. No clear check-out instructions except for the door code. The property said it is monitored 24 hours by a camera. We had an incident with my car that someone else had to have done to it. We called all the numbers we had, and it went from we do not have cameras to we canât see anything. Lots of pillows but none good for sleeping, just bring your own.
I read reviews before our stay. Here are my thoughts. You will be fine if you follow instructions. It states to call the Inn, and they will email you instructions on your door code, parking pass, and what unit you are in.
It is not a hotel. If you want a hotel, book a hotel. If you want a condo, book a condo. There is a difference...
