Happy Up Inc. — Local services in Glen Carbon

I have shopped at Happy Up about four times, and I believe they have a great selection of products and my kids always love to visit.

However, of those four times, one time there were (very noticeably) multiple female staff members behind the counter without bras on. This happened when I went there with my wife, and she also commented on how odd it was for a children’s toy store. I visit enough coffee shops to not be surprised by this level of dress, but I find it inappropriate at a store designed for children.

I visited again yesterday, and while shopping with all three of my young children, a staff member was loudly swearing (f-word) behind the counter where my children could easily over hear. Again, not something that would bother me elsewhere but completely unacceptable in a store full of children.

You only have to spend a few seconds in Happy Up to realize they are very expensive, and over priced compared to online competition, but in the past I have overlooked this in favor of supporting local brick and mortar establishments. I do not think I will continue to do so.

My experience is that Happy Up favors hiring young college age staff who do not consider that they are primarily servicing young children, not their peers. I love their store and their products, but I do not recommend the environment for preschool-kindergarten...

This store is AMAZING! Firstly, they stock a variety of popular name brands like Douglas, Jellycat, Sanrio, Ne-Doh, and Palm Pals just to name a few, in quantities and selections you are hard pressed to find anywhere else! They have really got everything from plush, sensory toys, collectibles, games, and infant/toddler items; just a menagerie of really great stuff! Secondly, the staff there are INCREDIBLE! They treat every customer with care no matter what age and they are and are always quick to greet and assist you without shadowing your entire shopping experience! They are good about checking in with you and keeping you informed about new products or restocks of brands you enjoy! This places feels like a community with the staff genuinely enjoying each other's company; this truly comes through in the joyous way they approach customer service! Happy Up is the only toy store we ever use. Their toys (and games, crafts, books, building sets, etc) are unique and high-quality and the employees are crazy knowledgeable and helpful.
