Location Greenbelt Beltway Plaza Subject: Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Behavior and Pricing Discrepancy

Dear Shoppers World Customer Service,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at your store on August 15th, 2024. I have always enjoyed shopping at Shoppers World for the great deals and selection for myself and my children. However, my experience on this particular visit was far from satisfactory.

While shopping, I found two cargo skirts on a clearance rack clearly labeled as $3. Neither skirt had a price tag. I confirmed with a staff member in that area that the skirts were indeed $3 since they were on the clearance rack, and she assured me that this price would be honored at checkout.

However, when I went to the checkout, the cashier informed me that she needed to call a manager because the skirt did not have a price tag. The manager, Lucy, arrived and informed me that the skirt was not $3 but $14.99. When I asked her to verify this information or check the system, she refused and accused me of tampering with the merchandise by placing it on the clearance rack myself. I found this accusation both offensive and unfounded.

I requested to speak to someone else, but Lucy refused, stating she was the only manager available. To my shock, she then called security, and three security guards approached me. They asked Lucy if she had verified the price, and she admitted she had not but insisted that the price was $14.99. Even the security guards suggested she honor the price on the rack, but she refused.

I asked Lucy for the corporate customer service number, which she initially refused to provide. After the security guards intervened, she finally gave it to them. As I was leaving the store, Lucy called me a derogatory name and threatened to call the police if I didn’t leave.

This entire incident was distressing, especially as I was shopping with my children. Being falsely accused of tampering with merchandise, called names, and threatened with police involvement over a pricing disagreement is unacceptable and unprofessional. I have photographic evidence of the skirts being on the $3 clearance rack, and I am confident that your store's security cameras can confirm that I did nothing inappropriate.

I am a regular customer at Shoppers World, and I am deeply disappointed by how I was treated. I would like to know what actions will be taken regarding this incident and what repercussions Lucy, the manager, will face for her unprofessional behavior.

Please let me know how you plan to address this...

UPDATE: THEY REALLY NEED TO REDUCE THEIR PRICES ON THEIR LAST YEAR WINTER CLOTHING! I went into the mall entrance near Marshall's and upon arriving at the top of the escalator, all I could smell was the stench of dry rotted clothing, which was coming from clothing in the hallway of Shoppers World.

It was disgusting! I went over to the clothes in the rack and smelled some of the men's shirts, and they definitely had that stench.

The clothing items were summer clothing. I wish I would have followed my thought too take pictures of the clothes, but it would not have captured the stench!

I was going to go in there to purchase a orange press, but the stench was overwellming!

The store is before you get to Big Lots, but that didn't matter because the entire upper level had that stench, no matter where you were going!

I got up as early as possible to go to a Shoppers World Store near me, upon my arrival there were about 4 or 5 racks of uniforms in front of the store and a big sign above it, to my dismay, there were no boys uniforms sized 8 in shirts or pants. I was told by a manager that only what was on display in front was on sale when at least three employees told me all of the uniforms in the store were on sale. The manager told me that the French Toast Brand uniforms weren’t on sale and I told her that in their weekly circular that’s been out for at least 2 weeks advertising uniforms on sale for $5 and $7 but say what brand , it just says famous brands and since I thought French Toasy was a famous brand and were on sale as well. I think that in the future the sign should reflect what’s specific is...
