I wish I could give negative stars. I ordered a cake and cupcakes on 4/18/16 to be ready on 4/21 my son picked out a cake design that he wanted. I got there on 4/21 which was my sons birthday. They showed me the cake and I noticed a long hair on the side of my cake. I showed the young lady who was assisting me and she saw it and told me to wait while they help the other customers so that she can show the other lady. After awhile of waiting the older Asian lady came over to look at the hair. First she acted like she couldn't see any hair on it so she got her glasses and was looking all over the cake..and still acted like there was nothing there but you can tell by her reaction she was acting so she took the cake to the back kitchen for awhile brought it back and tried to act like nothing was there. I was telling her that there was hair there before but now it's gone because she took it off when she took it back. She kept saying there was no hair and it's fine. We was arguing about the cake first she acted like there was no hair period like I made it up, then she changed her story and admitted she put new icing on but there was never a hair, then changed it again and said that the hair was on the outside of the cake so its ok to eat because she fixed the icing. I couldn't understand most the things she was saying because she didn't speak good English but I couldn't believe she really expected a bunch of kids to eat a cake that had hair on it. And part of the hair was under the icing the goes around the botton of the cake. I tried to explain to her even though she fixed the icing it's still unsanitary and that I didn't want the cake. She was really mad at me because I wouldn't take the cake. After arguing with her for awhile and telling her I didn't want the cake she said fine give everything back with an attitude and she will give me a refund. Then the whole time that she was taking the cake and cupcakes back and processing the refund on my credit card she was going off in her native language. I'm really disturbed that she treats customers like that especially when I paid $50 for a little cake. I would of been fine with one of the premade cakes if she could of threw a Pokemon design on it. After everything was finished a little boy was left with no cake or cupcakes on his birthday. Please avoid the place obviously she not serious about sanitation who knows what else goes on there. I hope to be in touch with the owner...
Read moreFirst, let me prepare you that this is a long read, so please get comfortable. I often frequent Heavens Bakery simply because the cake designs, and quality are above average compared to the other bakeries nearby. However, if you are looking for good customer service, this place isn't for you. Recently, I ordered a spider-man themed birthday cake for a friend’s son two weeks before the party. Clearly communicated specifications- Black and red, as you would expect for "spider-man". I also had this noted on my receipt. On the day of pickup, the younger Asian guy brought out the cake. The cake was green and blue. A green and blue spider-man cake! I pointed this out to the guy who referenced the receipt and confirmed the mistake. He showed it to the older Asian woman and communicated in their native language what the issue was. You don't need to speak several languages before you read body language and decipher negative attitudes. The older lady was clearly dismissive and un- bothered- hand gestures that indicated "oh well whatever", as she disappeared into the backroom. The guy hesitated for a little bit and uncomfortably told me he'll take $10 off the balance. A $145 cake. I communicated my displeasure about the way she handled it and was astounded that I wasn't offered a simple apology. He simply said, "well I was going to say it at the end". From behind the room, the older Asian woman yelled, "It's the same thing”! referring to the cake. Perhaps if the new spider-man character was green. I've sat and watched "Into the spiderverse" more times than I should (my 6-yr old is an enthusiastic marvel fan), and I can tell you none of the alternate spider-man, woman, shadow-ish person and pig were green, nor blue! Anyway, esteemed readers, not one apology was tendered. I left feeling upset and insulted. Of course, not everyone will receive shabby treatment, but this is a heads up, so you're not caught by...
Read moreHeavens Bakery? Please! I'm more inclined to regard this place as Hell's Kitchen. If one is looking for a marvelous cake that is both beautiful and reasonably priced, I'd suggest that he or she NOT buy it from Heaven's Bakery. I purchased a cake for my office because one of the nurses was having a birthday. I work in Bethesda, MD, which is not that far away, when I arrived and opened the box, the fruit topping had slid completely off the cake and was just in the bottom of the box. Honestly, I don't know if the cake was unfinished, or if the topping was just too watered down, but I knew for certain that I couldn't serve this cake to the people I work with, so when I contacted the women Not only was she rude, this perturbed woman was completely indifferent and dismissive. She refused to replace the cake that was never touched. Her comment was simply "my cakes don't do that, must have been your driving" I was flabbergasted and appalled by this woman's wanton disregard for those that patron her establishment. I respectfully requested that she take the damaged cake back and offer a discount for another cake, being as though I had to buy a cake anyway I might as well buy ANOTHER one from where I am. She politely dismissed that notion. So instead I paid double the price elsewhere and quite frankly it was worth it, the quality was by far better than the one received from Heaven's Bakery, and the service was grade A, compared to that subpar service I received from Heaven. Save your money!...
