Gift card buyers beware!!!! Do not purchase gift cards! For Christmas last year, my dad bought me 2 $50 gift cards from Family Farm & Home. I don't normally buy things from this store but I do have a pellet stove so I decided to use my gift cards to buy pellets. I have used both of them at different FFH stores (mainly Alma) and they worked just fine. I decided to use my remaining balance of 19.04 on one and $34 on the other, on 10 bags of pellets. The first gift card worked no problem, the second one kept reading 'card read error'. The cashier said there wasn't anything she could do. There is a number on the back of every gift card but she said she couldn't type anything in. I asked to speak to a manager but the not very friendly cashier said she was on a fork lift and refused to call her. I have never had such rude service any where. All I wanted to do was use up my gift card. I wanted to wait for the manager but the cashier, growing very impatient, made me very uncomfortable so my fiance paid the remaining balance, apologize to the other customers for the wait and we left the store. Been to many Family Farm and Fleet stores and this one was laid out differently, but it was clean and orderly, but what disappointed me the most was the store staff. Given my experience, there seems to be a management issue. Some of the staff were friendly, but what was really strange was the check out person was playing a game on her phone, and seemed angry that I took her away from it. I tried to read her name tag,but the first three letters Sys were the only ones I could read. Because she was paying too much attention to her game she messed up my order and had to redo it. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Prices keep going up even though it seems nothing should or has caused feed prices to rise. We started raising poultry 3 years ago at which time layer feed and scratch grain were 6.99 and 5.69 now both are just shy of 10.00 same with the whole and cracked corn that was 3.99 and now its 6.99 and 5.49 this is for the cheapest brand Armana (?sp?) They have since changed the brand name to American sprirt or something like that. I wish there were cheaper...
