This was my first time going to this buffet in the Cadillac, Michigan province. I am plainly, obviously someone that goes to a lot of buffets as I am somebody who consumes more food than my own body weight lol. That said, it was relatively diminutive but had a nice selection of food, and the food itself was sumptuous as well. The staff was pleasant and delightful. The establishment was nice, uncluttered, hygienic, and orderly. Which I always enjoy. $11.00 total, so that was exceptional pricing to me. (4:00 PM onward price) I should note. It's cheaper at lunch hours.

Ordered the Pepper steak with a spring roll. Was charged for it all - but when I got it home, there was no spring roll. Looked at the menu and saw it wasn’t even on there anymore. Ok, so was charged for something not existent anymore. Opened up my pepper steak and looked for the steak. What happened? Looked and tasted like boneless chicken. Where’s the beef???? Called the restaurant and sent them pictures via text. They assured me it was steak. It was “mystery meat”
.. Never again The soup was good - so will give them a star for that.

Decided to try this place today. Was definitely not happy. I don't like to fuss to the staff so we just ate what we could and left. All the meat was cold. So I know it wasn't fresh. The crab and shrimp was mushy. Nasty! And then to top it off the server was very cold and un inviting. Threw our fortune cookies down like ( ok get out ) . I will not ever be back here.

I LOVE the food but HATE eating here! The energy of the staff is NOT calming and comforting! There is staff constantly running around the restaurant cleaning everything, like there was just a diarrhea explosion and they are desperately cleaning it up before anyone notices. Cleaning rapidly, urgently-- even areas that should already be clean, like the tables in the back where they aren't seating people. Even the restroom was slippery from recent mopping and the janitor was waiting outside the bathroom ready to mop again.

I suspect maybe management requires them to be constantly moving and doing something, or else they'll be fired. They seem desperate to look busy. When the restaurant isn't very busy, I would much rather see the staff calmly relaxing so I can feel relaxed, and also feel they are ready to attend to my needs.

It's a buffet with many saucy foods, but they won't offer any napkins except the one little napkin they wrap the silverware in. If you want more you have to ask for them or get up and help yourself, as the staff is not focused on the right things. Everyone will need more napkins, especially kids. But I don't want staff handing me napkins if they were just wiping a table with cleaning chemicals.

Staff is WAAAYYYY too aggressive about removing your plate from the table. As soon as your eating starts to slow down, they are trying to take away your plate. NO!!!! I like to finish slowly, and I don't want you interrupting my meal so many times to ask for my plate! I will push my plate away from me when I am done with it, or I will get up for more food. Those are the signs that it's time to take the plate. You won't have to ask, you will know I'm done. Until then, stay away, and let me enjoy my meal uninterrupted! Removing a plate from a table is never urgent. But interrupting someone's conversation repeatedly because you're eager to clean up is very intrusive and annoying.

Lastly, canned sodas? WTF? The pleasure of a buffet is free choice, and all the refills you can stomach. Set up a basic soda fountain like every other restaurant, plus iced tea, and keep the refills coming! You want to run around looking busy? Keep people's drinks filled. Soda syrups are cheap and even unlimited refills create profit. But, better yet, they create happy customers. I only get water now because I'm not paying premium prices to ration a small beverage from a can like I'm on the go. Any dine-in restaurant should have cups, straws, ice, and a soda fountain. Exceptions only for specialty beverages that are exclusively available in bottles or cans.

I came to Great Wall because it's cheaper than the other Asian Buffet, but I would possibly pay more to avoid the behavior of this restaurant's staff. I would recommend they study USA restaurant customer service standards and try to improve. For all their good intentions, they are not creating the right energy and atmosphere for an enjoyable dining experience. Being polite and clean isn't enough. It requires genuine courtesy and situational awareness. Staff is drawing attention to themselves rather than operating seamlessly, invisibly, allowing customers to connect with their companions. I don't like leaving a restaurant feeling annoyed, but this is happening consistently...

The Great Wall Chinese Restaurant is absolutely my favorite restaurant, the buffet has approximately 30 different entrees and all of them are excellent and they use quality ingredients all of the dishes made with beef pork and chicken are tender and very tasty they are very modestly priced just had dinner there today I had a Diet Pepsi and Two Plates Full of food and the bill came to $10.25 worth every penny I cannot go to Cadillac Michigan without having lunch or dinner at the Great Wall the staff and owners are authentic Chinese and so is the cooking they even throw free drink refills and ice cream included with your meal they also have a dessert bar included with your meal, inshort great food great prices, just like to add whether you are a vegan or a carnivore like me they can satisfy both, they also offer takeout from about 25 entrees and there will special cook it for you to go or to stay in or you can fill a to go container from the buffet I have enjoyed this restaurant for about 10 years now and I have never been disappointed it is all you can eat at the buffet and I love how attentive their staff is if you're drinking vessel is half empty they are right there asking you if you want more drink the service is impeccable I have found compared to other restaurants a tip is not required but I always leave a couple dollars they do not serve alcohol of any kind but who would want it with all the great food to eat quiet restaurant great place to take the family they serve Pepsi products water and tea and I think milk, and I think children under a certain age get to eat for free and if you complain about the price being a couple of dollars more then what is advertised it's because drinks are extra but you will get out of there for less than $12 per adult...

I honestly have no idea how this place could get such bad ratings so far. I have lived in the immediate area my entire life. I have traveled across the state regularly trying different restaurants and none of compared to this one. The food is always good no matter what time of day you come, and is NEVER cold. Obviously if you come in right before they close some of their dishes will be older, but they have warmers on their buffet and regularly come out to stir and exchange for dishes. They have several different entre's for lunch and dinner, so the food is never out for more then a few hours at a time. Having tasted dozens of Chinese and Asian foods around the state this is still my favorite. The food has flavor to it, and doesn't feel like the same meat with a different sauce, like the nearby Asian buffet I might add. The only irritating thing is they stopped their $7.50 to-go boxes in favor of now weighing the food you take as you go. I now have to pay around $14 for a box that would have cost me half that before. Then again i also fill my box more then normal. My family and friends all love this place, and there is no better way to dine in with...
