Worst Customer Service I’ve Ever Experienced! Avoid Yumberry Frozen Yogurt I stepped into Yumberry Frozen Yogurt in Machesney Park with my significant other expecting a fun treat. Instead, I got one of the most bizarre and hostile customer service encounters I’ve ever had.
No one was at the register when we walked in, so we grabbed our own spoons and cups to quickly try one flavor—literally a tiny taste—so we could make a confident purchase. Out runs a woman with blue and black hair, acting frantic, scolding us for trying a flavor. We immediately threw away our spoons as she demanded.
A small drip of yogurt almost fell from my cup, so I caught it with my hand and ate it (not a crime last I checked). She then threatened to make us throw away our entire bowls—which we were moments away from paying for—just because we had dared to taste a flavor earlier.
I calmly explained that I used to work at a frozen yogurt shop for years, so I understand policies, but asked if they offer any kind of compensation or exchange for unsatisfied customers. She said no. I asked what would happen if the yogurt was expired or the machine dirty still no. Even more shocking? She’s worked there for a year and “isn’t sure” about basic service procedures.
Her reasoning for the extreme rules? COVID. In 2025. Meanwhile, the same yogurt she wanted me to throw away would’ve been wasted anyway.
This is a frozen yogurt shop, not a high-security lab. Other froyo shops happily let customers taste flavors and will gladly fix an order if something’s wrong. Here? You’re treated like a criminal for wanting to be sure you’ll enjoy what you’re buying.
Do yourself a favor and spend your money somewhere that actually wants you to come back. This place...
Read moreHorrible! First time customer. Cashier asked me to weigh item on both scales as she thought one was "off". I did, and they were different weights. She then charged me by the weight on the second scale - total was $3.22. I gave her a $5 bill and told her I have the .22 cents. Said it was too late, she had already rang up the sale. I told her it was no problem, just give me $2 back. She again stated she was unable to do that because the register had already recognized the cash tendered. I told her her drawer would still balance at the end of the day. She disagreed, voided the sale, and began again. However, this time the same scale was registering 2 different weights/amount due. I had her cancel the sale, refund my $5, and I left. I highly recommend this establishment calibrate their scales! As a customer, I would, at the very least have my item weighted twice to...
Read moreFamily wanted a sweet treat tonight after dinner and we stopped in. Experience was great. The product wasn't as overly priced as most other frozen yogurt places with a similar foot print. There were a couple young ladies working and they were busy when we went. Both were very pleasant and working hard! I even asked one of the ladies if I could get a towel to wipe down the table we sat at because it was sticky. She apologized and offered to wipe it down herself. I told her a family with a toddler who really enjoyed her fro-yo had just left and I would do it. I think she was hesitant to hand it to me because she thought it was her job. I don't know the owner, but the young lady with glasses, tattoos, and multicolored dyed hair is awesome! If my business were located in the area I would try...
