December 20, 2024 - Recently moved to Virginia in search of FRESH seafood. . . My wife and I are from up north ( near coastal Harpswell area in Maine) glad we found Pickford Fresh Seafood!

What a surprise! Drove to Harrisonburg to find this small shop owned by Will Pickford! His photo on the wall is a testament to his knowledge on Fish ! Check out that 3 foot long PIKE caught with his Dad several years ago!

I happen to be from southern Maryland, so I grew up on fresh seafood. I had a good conversation with the guy working when we were there, and Pickford’s seems to really know their seafood. They carry a limited selection, but will order pretty much anything in season.

We had them steam up a couple pounds of 21–25 shrimp, and it was excellent. Seasoned to order, and cooked to perfection. We also tried the crabcakes, and thought they were very good. I plan to go back soon, and pick up some of their fresh fish.

They regularly carry Scottish salmon, sushi grade tuna, and a white fish. I highly recommend Pickfords if you live near the...

I purchased the ingredients for our Valentines Day dinner from Pickford's. We got the Chilean Sea Bass and Dungeness Crab legs. Everything was fresh and delicious! The shop is pretty and smells fresh. The staff was helpful and friendly, even pointing me to the perfect wine to match our seafood menu. Their menu was extensive and included alligator and duck, crab cakes and crab dip and much much more. I have the gator sausage in the freezer with the plans to use it in gumbo.
