Meijer — Local services in Hartland Township

This is my favorite Meijer and I come here every week and the staff has always been amazing and super nice! My boyfriend and I came to do our shopping last night at 11 PM on June 26th so it would be nice and empty. Well I fell down my steps a few days ago and hit my hip and upper leg very bad and have massive bruises all over my right side. My boyfriend saw a cart that had a large bench seat in front so I could sit down for a bit as I was not going to take a mobility scooter as I could still walk but was just uncomfortable. It was late so the store was empty and there were many of these carts. After only a minute or so a male worker comes up to us and tells us to take it back and with the most condescending and rude tone actually said "I would think two grown adults would be smart enough to know not to use that." This was absolutely beyond rude. I've never been talked to like that in any store and I'm always smiling and polite so staff are super nice to me. I was actually shocked. He didn't ask if I needed it which it would have been nice as my legs hurt and we had a huge list. I could walk but it was uncomfortable from falling down 5 steps. Then my boyfriend and I needed help with a very large purchase and we were helped by two men and two women that were just amazing! We bought a $800 pool and these staff members were amazing and even helped get it into our truck. Of course that rude man was no where to be seen after that to help us. It made me quite annoyed because I get all my grocceries and prescriptions here. I can't even use a cart that had a bench seat on it so I wouldn't have to walk and it turned out to be a couple miles easily after getting tons of food too. Just made me feel very sad to be treated that way. If he does that to a person with a full disability, the store will be sued. I'm giving 2 stars because the other staff was amazing but his behaviour was soo rude that it brought it down a lot. Just makes me sad to be talked...

Getting sick of waiting in line for a self check out! Also has no counter space. Every time I go there anymore there are self check outs out of order. Then I have to wait for the assistant to approve a small bottle of wine. Layout of the store makes no sense as you can’t find anything! Anyone know of a good place to shop?

You are heading towards almost exclusively self-checkouts now.

I didn't choose to participate in that nonsense, I had already:

🛒filled my cart 🛒emptied my cart 🛒scanned the items 🛒refilled my cart I,m 70 years old and had to relift cases of water because you don’t have hand scanners. I went to the meat counter and rang the bell to pickup my flash food but no answer and had to go to customer service to get someone then back to the meat counter. Check out Machine stopped 3 times to call an employee over to check!

You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be.

• I'm not interested in proving that I did your job for you.

• If you want me to be a cashier with no training then that's your problem not mine.

• Keep employing young people and give them job opportunities.

I used to love coming in this Meijer. If you happened to be in the store on 9/10 around 6:30pm you may have come across what I did. The women’s and unisex restrooms were absolutely disgusting. They smelled horrible upon walking in. The first 2 stalls had toilets , sitting full of feces. No wonder the smell hit you as soon as you walked in. I then tried the unisex bathroom and the same thing in there.

I let one of the greeters know and she could have cared less. But, said she would get somebody on it. I walked away watching here carry on chatting to her coworker. There was a lot of employees just chatting with each other.

We grabbed some items and checked out. It had been 20 min+ so I checked to see if anyone had gone in there to clean, nope.

I stopped at customer service and mentioned it there. Again there were quite a few employees chit chatting, including the young lady I originally told. The employee I spoke with this time wasn’t surprised. She told me she went to check the bathrooms at 1 pm and somebody had locked themselves in there for a very long time so she wasn’t able to deal with the bathrooms. Let’s hope this was not like this since 1pm. But, wouldn’t be surprised by how bad it was.
