Our cranky children wanted to go to the pool instead of the beach, so we found ourselves at the community pool. We were surprised to discover it was free, which is awesome. However, I have never been to a pool with such restrictive rules. Our kids weren't allowed to use their puddle jumpers (Coast Guard approved type III PFD), no toys allowed in the pool even though they have a big bin of noodles and such sitting right there, and no jumping into the kiddy pool, even on the side where there is no step. Our kids jump into a pool just like this at swimming lessons, so that was very hard to enforce/explain. Also they were bored quickly with no toys, as essentially all they were allowed to do here is stand in the water. I'm not sure what a 3 year old is supposed to do if they can't jump and can't play with toys, but at least it killed an hour. This seems to be a great facility for lap swimming, but not really for families aside from very young kids - although it is nice if you go to Keiki ponds, to then walk over to the pool for a shower and...
Read moreThis is an especially nice municipal pool, which is free to the public. However, some people have noticed that the pool doors seem to be closed before the end of the session. A lifeguard explained to me that they close the doors 30 to 45 minutes prior to the actual closing of the session, as latecomers would not have enough time to change into and out of a swimsuit and have much time left to swim. All users must exit the pool 15 minutes prior to a session's end. So, plan to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to a session's end. There are lockers, but it doesn't appear that keys are used to actually lock the doors, and there's no provision to allow someone to use their own lock. So leave your valuables in your vehicle. There are showers, reserved for pool users. Attached is a photo of the hours for February 2020, as well as the permanent sign showing the standard hours. There is a kiddie (keike) pool for small children, but no jetted & heated...
Read moreApparently it's the rules as soon as your done swimming u NEED to leave IMMEDIATELY. God forbid if u have to wait on someone who is always late, or a ride. The showers are freezing. Apparently they think since it's 80 degrees out people must be ok with 35 degree water.right? At least its the city water. Lets it sit in some pipes for a while to warm up. U can tell by the tangy metelly flavor and lotion like texture of the water! Feels good on the skin might be able to replace aloe Vera! Here's a hack for u. Take a shower in the drinking fountain.its a solid 60 degrees. And get your water from the shower. Its nice and frigid at a 35 degree temp. Almost as frigid as the workers attitude! Wow thats cold! 5 out of 5 for any masochistic people. 1 out...
