Recently I took on the project of replacing all of the bushing in my suspension. To do so, I have to take apart all of the front and rear suspension components, which in an of itself ruins the vehicles previous alignment. Going into the project knowing that I would need an alignment afterwards, I didn't worry about the orientation of the eccentric bolts that determine the alignment of the vehicle, which meant there was a visible difference in my camber, being a -3.5 to -1.6 degree difference between the driver and passenger side. I decided to set up an appointment with Les Schwab to get a 4-wheel alignment, as well as use their free shock/strut/suspension inspection, to determine if there was anything else that I would need to take care of on my vehicle. I dropped the vehicle off at about 2:50ish for the appointment, and didn't get a response till almost 5, which seemed normal, as it would make sense for an alignment and inspection to take that long. Once I received a phone call, the technician on the other side of the phone had informed me that my vehicle was unable to have an alignment done, as there mustve been some sort of wreck with my car, bending my control arms 2 degerees out of place. I tried talking with the technician and asked if he could adjust the camber to be as close to the other wheel as possible, but he told me my camber was not adjustable on my vehicle. I had to physically explain to him part-by-part that my upper control arm had eccentric bolts in it, allowing for adjustable camber, to which he tried to back down on, and tell me it would not be physically possible to fix. he mentioned that as a safety concern, if he was unable to do a proper alignment, he wouldn't attempt at all, meaning he wasn't willing to go back and look at my suspension to properly adjust it, even after explaining to him that it is fully adjustable. even then, they didn't conduct the inspection that I had also requested, which would've also shown that the upper control arms also had eccentric bolts, allowing for my alignment to be handled properly. once I had gone to pick up the vehicle, the service desk alerted me that my control arm was bent and would either need to be replaced with aftermarket parts, or that I would need to see a dealership to take care of the issue. knowing exactly what the problem is, the moment I got home, I lifted the rear of my vehicle, and adjusted the wheel myself, to be within, .5 degrees of the other wheel, using just a carpenter's level to adjust the difference, which is absolutely crazy of me to do, as apparently its impossible to adjust my camber, especially with a vehicle that MUST have a bent control arm.
For me to have to explain to the technician how to fix my own car, when it is his line of work and just a hobby to me, is quite ridiculous. I just wanted an alignment and to know what else I would need to do to my suspension, and instead, I was waiting for two hours just to be told it wasn't possible, and that they wouldn't be able to work on my vehicle at all. I applaud their intent for safety, but they were incredibly unknowledgeable in their own field. would definitely avoid, if you need actual work to be done to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am front out of town and was experiencing issues with my brakes while pulling a full large horse trailer. While at the rodeo in Heber we thought weād take our trailer to Les Schwab which is normally a go to place for me when experiencing problems with tires and wheels. We told them please check the brakes. While youāre at it letās do the oil change and rotate tires. They had our pickup Thursday-Friday. We did get a text on Thursday to call Liz. My husband called and they told him oh we didnāt realize it was a dually it will be extra $$ to rotate tires and we said ok. We heard nothing else and called Friday and they said yes itās done. We went to pick it up and they said it was $359 and then handed me a quote to replace brakes, rotors, calipers, and the works on the front tires for $1,100. Ok, people!! We brought the truck because Iām pulling a heavy load of horses from out of town and told them the problem, said itās done and the problem never got fixed!! If I knew the cost to fix the problem that is a for sure concern for safety pulling mountain passes to get home Iād have you fix the problem and not spend $359 for things I could do later. They told me they called me but I do not have any missed calls or voicemails. The only text we had was to call Liz on Thursday. If you go to the Les Schwab in Heber just be ware to ask 2 -3 times what the cost is and if they are addressing the problem and ask for the quotes. Donāt count on something being fixed when you get there and they might not even let you know the price.
Iām sure their work is fine at least Iām hoping except my air pressure in 4 out of 6 tires is now low and thatās not great when pulling...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was staying at a rv park in Heber and needed to run down to Walmart to grab a few things for dinner. When my daughter and granddaughter got to the truck to leave my tire sensors told me that my front drivers side tire had suddenly went from 40 to 11 lbs of pressure. Thinking it was a miss read I pulled over to find it wasnāt and my front tire had all of a sudden gotten a flat. There was a Les Schwab tire store in the same parking lot so I limbed over and went inside and asked it they could help. The lady behind the counter said they were not taking anymore appointments today so I went out and started changing the tire to the spare in their parking lot. A few minutes later, one of the mechanic came out and told us to go and wait in the waiting room and he could swap out the spare for us. After getting my daughter and granddaughter in the waiting room I went out and talked with him. Just so happens he had recently moved his family from Ogden area after prematurely selling his house and had been commuting from Ogden to Heber and he was living in the same rv park we were staying in . He offered to fix the tire and bring it āhomeā with him and drop it off at my site OR he said he would be in at 7am and I could bring the truck back then and heād switch it out. I opted to bring it back. Later that evening I ran into him again in the swimming pool with his whole family and he said he had gotten the tire fixed before leaving his shop that night and it was ready for me in the morning to pick up. Swing by at 7am this morning g and he had me back on the road 5 minutes later. I failed to get his name but he was a great help and a great...
