If you were looking for good food, and good service, you should skip this place.
When I arrived, there were at least five crewmembers cleaning the place. What was strange is it didn't close for two hours. Which I knew from looking at the sign. So I didn't care that they were all glaring at me, literally.
Very strange that they would not say something like hey no worries we're still open we're just cleaning early. They glared at me.
When I got up to the counter the lady that was going to serve me basically grunted something and I had to say are you ready to take my order as she's standing there staring at me. However the strange part was she had one earbud on a wire so it couldn't tell if she was on the phone call or if she was busy or what was going on.
She proceeded to leave the earbud in as she served me. Then she dredged out the last of the watery shredded chicken. I ordered a quesadilla, so this is not going to go well. She put the cheese on and made it. Wrapped it up and asked me if I wanted anything else.
That's strange, it's a quesadilla, doesn't it come with stuff. So I said how about sour cream and salsa. She did not understand what I said and had to speak to another lady in Spanish and then proceeded to grab one little container of what seem to be watered down guacamole or green sour cream, I don't know which.
I was not in the mood to argue with the woman who did not know what I was saying, and I also did not know until I looked on the menu online what exactly quesadilla was supposed to come with.
I took what she served me and put some hot sauce on it and sat down to eat. Again more glares from the lady mopping the floor and cleaning the tables.
Also just a note, when you walk into a place two hours before closing and it smells like chemical cleaner kind of makes you wanna throw up, not eat more food.
Only good thing I have to say is the food was fresh and tasty. I could've done without the watery...
Read moreI just have to share my own personal experience from the past two to three years. Whenever the manager, Leslie, is working, she treats me like I'm some psychopath criminal. I always get and pay for a kid soda, which is in the same cup as a water cup. There were a few times where one of her fellow employees watched me from two feet away from where i was filling up my drink. (Hello! Personal space!) She saw I was filling a water cup with soda so she went to Leslie to make sure I paid for it, which I did. This happened on multiple occasions. Then there is another time when I was getting utensils and she had another employee check to make sure I took one utensil each. I wasn't allowed to take more than that. I have kids so I usually take a few extra in case it breaks. Leslie even pulled me aside one day and said I am only allowed one utensil. How ridiculous is that?! I went there yesterday, I order a veggie tostada like I always do. The Mexican lady that usually fills my salad, always skimps on the salad so I usually ask if I can have a little more. I don't get guacamole and that salsa that usually comes with it. Well yesterday, when it was times to fill my salad, she had Leslie do it instead of her. She even skimped on the lettuce so I asked for a little more and she only added three or four pieces of lettuce. It was very little. If I'm going to pay $10 for my tostada, I want to get my money's worth. Also, when it was time to pay, Leslie stepped in to take my money and when she was done with my order, she walked away. Since I go there every week, I should be treated with kindness and respect. I feel like a criminal everytime Leslie is there. I've been a regular at cafe rio for years. If there was another location in heber, I'd go to that one so I don't have to deal...
Read moreSERIOUSLY DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE ONE STAR. I have been here two times and they were the 2 worst experiences I have had. First time: I went to Cafe Rio with my mom about 7:30, a typical dinner time. They had ran out of: black beans, sweet pork, chicken, limes, tomatillo sauce, tres leches and flan. The staff was extremely impatient as I tried to order food for the whole family with their limited options. Second time: just yesterday, me and my friend went to go eat and we wanted to try something new. We were asking the servers questions and again, extremely impatient to help answer our questions. We ordered tres leches at checkout and it took 20 minutes for it to come out. The checkout girl didn't even tell the staff for about 5 minutes that we had ordered it. I went to grab a to-go lid and noticed the way she was helping another customer, he had paid with a few gift cards and she had tried to keep the card with the remaining balance, assuring him that it was empty. He finally had her convinced there was money and she gave it back to him after 4-5 minutes. She just glared and snapped at me when I asked for a to-go lid. She continued to glare at me and my friend as we waited for our tres leches. AND IT LOOKED NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURE WHEN IT CAME OUT. No strawberries and no whipped cream. Horrible Horchata and Dr. Pepper. Such a shame, I love Cafe Rio and have had many wonderful experiences at other locations. AVOID HEBER LOCATION...
