I bought Remington long rifle here for my son to go hunting with me. After firing the rifle one time, the magazine clip jammed when the magazine release broke. The magazine would not feed any more ammunition into the firing chamber, as 2 rounds jammed in the well. The magazine and rifle had to be taken apart to get the magazine out. Little did I know, but Remington had been sued by multiple parties for just this type of malfunction causing dismemberment and even death of many gunowners. Remington is now in bankruptcy over the numerous such malfunctions that caused harm. When I called Remington they refused to repair or replace my weapon due to their factory currently being closed. I asked Montana Outdoor Sports to exchange my rifle, and I would pay the difference for a more expensive rifle of safer quality. I was told that Montana Outdoor Sports would only do that if I paid for a $39 restocking fee plus all the costs of the defective/ broken parts. As a 100% disabled combat veteran barely surviving on my pension, and as a father unwilling to kill his son by giving him a dangerously defective hunting rifle to use, I am aghast at the fact that a business that is owned by a person that claims to be a 70% disabled USAF veteran would mistreat a gun buyer at a time when gun sales are at a record high/record profit. I will take my future business exclusively to Sportsman's Warehouse, where I get a military discount that Montana Outdoor Sports does not give, and I have always been treated respectfully. Do not use Montana...
Read moreWe were in there to look around and found things to purchase. As we were heading to check out, we heard the owner berating, yelling and cussing at one of the teen employees. We promptly dropped our purchase, apologized to the one clerk who had provided us with excellent service up to then headed and for the door. In between bursts of yelling at his employee, I told him he just lost a sale and all he could say was thank you. I told him we would never return to his store, and again all he said was thank you. My parting words to the two teen employees were that they needed to find a new job. No body deserves to be treated in the manner he was treating his employees. I hope Montana Outdoor Sports shutters soon, because the owner/manager has no business being in that type of role! Save your money, go to Bob Ward's, Capital Sports or take a road trip to Missoula or Great Falls and...
Read moreI purchased several hundred dollars of hunting supplies recently. On my first outing I realized that the camo archery clothing all creaked like an old door, basically unusable for hunting. I called the clerk to talk about some kind of store credit and told him I could show the credit card statement with the big charge but I had lost the receipt. No returns without a receipt he said. Fair enough, I just wanted to talk to the manager or owner to see if I could work something out for at least partial store credit since my $200 worth of gear they shouldn't even be selling was junk. Twice he repeated that they were very busy people and couldn't be bothered with something this small. Apparently, working in a Montana sporting goods store makes you a VIP. It wasn't small to me and they already had my money so I was insignificant. In summary, quality of stock is junk and of low quality....
