Dear Corporate Office,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding an incident that occurred at one of your Michaels stores. Today, 3/7/2024, at the 500 W 49th Street, Hialeah, FL 33012 store, I encountered a distressing situation involving a manager, Barbara who displayed a complete lack of understanding and empathy towards the safety of my son and me.
As a loyal customer of Michaels, I have always appreciated the welcoming atmosphere and the quality of service provided by your staff. However, my recent experience has left me feeling upset and frustrated. On that day, I visited your store with my 8-year-old son. As any responsible parent would do, I accompanied him to the restroom, as I always do, to ensure his safety and well-being.
To my shock, the manager on duty approached me and informed me that my son was not permitted to accompany me into the women's restroom. Instead, she insisted that he use the men's restroom alone. I tried to explain that I cannot allow my young child to enter a public restroom unaccompanied due to safety concerns, especially in light of the increasing incidents of kidnappings.
Despite my explanations, the manager remained adamant, claiming that my son's presence in the women's restroom would make other patrons uncomfortable. This discriminatory policy not only disregards the safety of children but also perpetuates harmful gender stereotypes. Furthermore, it fails to acknowledge the reality that many parents, like myself, prioritize the safety and supervision of their children above all else.
It is deeply troubling that Michaels, a company known for its commitment to customer satisfaction, would condone such behavior from its employees. As a mother, I should not have to choose between my child's safety and the comfort of other customers. Every parent deserves the right to ensure their child's well-being in any public space, including your stores.
I urge you to address this matter promptly and implement policies that prioritize the safety and inclusivity of all customers, regardless of gender. Training your staff to handle such situations with sensitivity and understanding is essential in creating a welcoming environment for families like mine.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your prompt response. Thank you for your time and...
Read moreI shop at this Michael's location all the time but after today I'll shop at another location or stick to Amazon and Hobby Lobby because today was a mess. The 2 cashiers were just talking to another employee who seem to be off today because she was in regular clothes but when I needed help she assisted so don't know if she was off or on but anyways I scan my item that says 50% but it didn't scan the price I went and took a picture of it to show them its 50% off and no honor no nothing. The plain clothes employee kept saying or it was in the wrong spot. Hmmmmm nope it was in the right spot with all the other lights and 40% or 50% off signs. Then I asked how to use my rewards I had 3 different ones and she said oh you can only use it online and that's a lie because at the other Michael's the cashier helped me scan 2. They just didn't want to do their job plus their pizza was just deliver and were just talking. I just left canceled my order. Going to order online because I have $20 rewards but after today (11/5/24) I'm going somewhere else. Also, last week at the same location I went inside to get an order pick up and asked to use the rest room the cashier said oh its locked and not working. Lies because I went to the Christmas section also and saw another customer come out. Just...
Read moreWe were just finishing up our shopping when they made the announcement that the store was closing soon at which point we we working our way downstairs after already finishing up our selections and wanted to take a quick look at the DIY wedding selection to see if there was anything of worth to come back for on another day. An employee followed us and with still about 8 minutes until official closing time and very rudely told us that we needed to leave because the store was closed (it was not) I calmly told her that yes I heard the announcement and wanted to see something quickly before heading to the register. She said ok then go if you heard the announcement leave. I told her no the store technically isn't closed yet and I will be done before they do close and walked away. She ended up being the closing manager and was standing at the front with the door locked letting people out. Mind you at this point it STILL wasn't 7pm and she locked everything. I understand that it's Sunday and everyone wants to go home but you still need to do you job and treat your customers with grace. That kind of attitude is extremely unwelcoming and unbecoming of someone who in that position should know very well how customers...
