Kohl's — Local services in Hillsboro

I used to love shopping at this location, but after an experience in the past week with my mom, I don’t see myself going there again. Alongside the pressure they put onto customers at the cashier to get Kohl’s cash, one staff was very detailed in how she treated us. By look, she only spoke to me after acknowledging that we were of color. After countless uncomfortable “no”s I had to give to the cashier, we managed to ALMOST leave the store before the alarm went off, by “mistake” of forgetting to remove a tag. The entire situation could have been either the worst accident on the staff’s part, or it was all with intent towards us. If I can’t feel safe doing my normal shopping, why should someone else? I was spoken to like a toddler, as if the worker thought i’d give in to the rewards. Embarrassed and uncomfortable, I wouldn’t go to this location if you’re not clearly white, racism is unfortunately normal these days. Mind you, I’m barely turning into a legal adult, I wouldn’t wish someone the shame and embarrassment I felt as we left, and having to translate what happened to my mother who was full of confusion. About average. Another poorly laid out department store with less than helpful and not particularly friendly staff.

I was in the store for about 25 minutes and the only interaction I had with staff was the checkout person. This is fine for me because I knew what I wanted but was having difficulty locating it.

I made eye contact with four store associates who would quickly look the other way and hurriedly walk a different direction. It's like they were trying to avoid having to ask if they could help me.

It was OK because I eventually found what I was looking for but I could have saved a few minutes had someone inquired.

I usually only come here as a last resort because the prices aren't the best but the clothing variety is...

I don't really understand the point of this store. Maybe I'm too young to see the point. It's like an expensive version of Amazon or Target or Walmart or Costco. This store never seems to have what you want for a price you are willing to pay for it, if they have it at all. I've been there a few times, it's always a waste of time and I leave disappointed.

There must be a point to this store, one that justifies it being here, I'll figure it out eventually, and edit this review, but at present, I have no idea. I can't figure out why you would go here or how this business stays afloat.

But I do see people enter and exit, so it's got customers, I just can't...
