I agree totally with the uncleanliness of the Bluffton Planet Fitness. I also agree with a recent reviewer that the manager--Richard Brown, and the so-called assistant manager--Ian, are responsible for the unsanitary conditions in the dressing rooms and bath rooms. There is NO managerial oversight of the employees. The 2 managers sit at the front counter area doing nothing but rudely speaking to members. There is a severe lack of professionalism and courtesy by the managers. The water fountain is rarely, if ever, cleaned. The dressing room floors, sinks, mirrors, vanity areas, shower stalls and toilets are disgracefully dirty and unsanitary! Hardly a day goes by that there are no paper towels in the dispensers. If the dressing room floors are mopped, it is superficially mopped with dirty water. All kinds of debris and trash are left on the floors. The shower curtains are black with mold and mildew! The workout areas have empty and partially empty plastic bottles on the machines and floors. This is a poor management problem. It is NOT a staff shortage as the manager--Richard Brown says to everyone with a complaint. The 2 managers--Richard Brown and Ian need lessons in professionalism, courtesy, diplomacy, and a friendly attitude toward ALL members. These 2 managers treat members with disrespect, and angry remarks. The managers do not listen to members, and are dismissive to them. Richard Brown and Ian need to be replaced with quality managers, who will pursue the motto of Planet Fitness--The Judgement Free Zone. Planet Fitness is a great organization and corporation. Do Not ruin the concept of Planet Fitness by inept managers of the Bluffton...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNew member and I was enjoying my time at this gym, it does get a bit crowded with the younger crowd at times holding up machines on their phones but otherwise my experience was ok Until yesterday, I attempted to purchase a water bottle from the female employee at the register and was flat out ignored. She was bent over on the counter typing away on her phone and I called out to her several times to get her attention before I realized she was intentionally ignoring me as I was standing right in front of her inches from her face. She refused to look up from her cellphone and acknowledged me. The young man finished with his customer on the other side of the counter and had to walk over to help me. It was very rude and disrespectful. Iām not sure if she was having a bad day or if she wasnāt on the clock and couldnāt be bothered by customers, but if you are going to stand in front of the register I would assume as an employee you are there to help/work. Luckily I am a black card holder and I will just relocate to another planet fitness that has better customer service.
Update - store manager reached out to me quickly and apologized for my experience and offered compensation. I really appreciated the prompt response and eagerness to rectify my experience. I can say the management team definitely cares about their customers and their gym and are doing a great job. Thank you so much for reaching out Adam I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Bluffton Planet Fitness has hit rock bottom since the so-called new manager, little Ian Edge, took the reins several months ago. His first weekend on the job he over-slept, and opened PF over 2 hours late. Recently, excrement was found in the showers. Ian Edge chose to close the showers instead of cleaning them! The dressing rooms have been cleaned with a dry mop instead of a dirty, wet mop. Which is worse? The water fountain is always dirty. The shower curtains are infrequently changed. The batteries are rarely replaced in the clocks. Ian Edge continues to have a dour facial expression, and to verbally attack members. He is never pleasant--only combative and rude. He sits at the front desk most of the time, instead of walking around the work-out areas and bathrooms viewing the problems, and correcting them. Have the lockers ever been cleaned since the Bluffton PF opened almost 4 years ago? Maria Bagley was the first manager of the Bluffton Planet Fitness, and used to cleaned the dressing rooms thoroughly herself, including the ceiling light fixtures, and the ceilings themselves. Ian Edge only occasionally leaves his chair at the front desk! This pint-size excuse of a manager must be replaced if the Bluffton, SC Planet Fitness is to improve! As long as Ian Edge is in the building, the Bluffton Planet Fitness will only be a second...
