It was my first time in Hobby Lobby. Absolutely beautiful. A crafter dream place. Anything and everything you can think of is there. I bought a lot of stuff. So, when I got to the check out the cashier proceeded to ask if I need a bag. I looked down at my many many things I bought and replied yes, I do believe I need a bag. She said " paper bags are 10 cents and cloth bags are forty-nine cents." I looked at her and giggled. (I'm sorry I couldn't help it. ) OK, I think a paper bag will be fine. I'm thinking to myself "who charges for a sack for the items you bought in their store?" Is this what it has come to now? Why? As many people who shop there or anywhere, paper bags do not cost that much. I can understand fifty cents for a cloth sure but paper? Come on. That's just ridiculous. So needless to say I will not go back to hobby lobby even though they are building one less than a mile from my house. It saddens me because I can buy a lot of my craft stuff there. So, sorry to your devastating lack of money so you have to charge your customers for paper bags. Good luck with...
Read moreMay have just made my last purchase at the Bluffton, SC, Hobby Lobby. The store's response to Beaufort County's single-use plastic bag ban that took effect November 1 is to CHARGE CUSTOMERS for reusable bags. If you do not want to purchase a bag, then you carry your individual items to your car. There are no other options.
So to review.........the store previously purchased/provided/expensed plastic bags for customers' purchases.......... a cost of doing business. Now, instead of providing any other option, Hobby Lobby has only one; the customer buys their own bag. Sure am glad the grocery stores and other local retailers in the county have responded in a POSITIVE way to the ban and have provided customers with an environmentally-friendly alternative to plastic. Hobby Lobby has apparently forgotten who pays their bills.
Yes, I do purchase and use recycable, multi-use bags. But on the occasion that I've left them at home, I appreciate the retailers that provide an acceptable alternative. It's a shame Hobby Lobby has not...
Read moreThere was an item that was originally 19.99, on clearance for 4.99, but was rung up at 9.99. My wife went in the store literally two minutes after coming out to get a refund, and they heavily implied that she had already gotten that discount because there was another item rung up for 4.99 in the receipt. They made her come back out and take everything she bought back inside just so they could see that she was telling the truth. The item had both prices on it, so I believe that she was picked on by your bully employees for speaking english with a heavy accent, and assumed to want to scam the store out of money because of a perceived stereotype. I feel VERY offended at the unprofessional behavior displayed by your employees and I vow to never step in...
