Revival Vintage Boutique — Local services in Hoboken

Would have loved to give this establishment higher marks but wasn't given the chance. Quite literally. Thrift and vintage shopping is really very much my thing and I adore seeking these shops out. Not only is it crazy fun but I find an ethical satisfaction to shopping second-hand/vintage, versus buying new. Helps the planet and small businesses. I arrived at Revival Vintage Boutique at 11:55 AM (5 minutes before their posted opening time) so waited outside for their door to open. At 12:15 PM, the store hadn't opened. No worries- but I could hear voices inside, so I lightly tapped on the door. I wasn't irritated with the late opening but I was really surprised at what then happened. At my knock, a store employee/manager parted the curtains of the door window and gave me a scolding no-no wagging finger, as if I had done something wrong by politely knocking 15 minutes after their posted opening. No one would call me impatient or un-understanding, so had she opened the door a second to ask for another few moments or state they would be opening at [insert time] I would have loved to wait awhile longer or return later. But preferring to shop where people feel welcome, and not like they are intruding, I walked away. When the door wasn't even cracked to acknowledge my knock, but instead given a scolding finer, I lost my enthusiasm to shop this...

5 stars just for customer service. I wish I got the young lady’s name because she was so sweet and helpful. I do know she’s a fashion student in NY. She helped me decide on a gorgeous shirt that is not my usual go to color.

4 stars for the shop itself. It’s hard to rate vintage shops since they all offer different items which may or may not fit in with your style. That being said, this is a cute curated shop with some interesting finds. I would say it is a true “vintage” shop with older items in great condition of course.

3 stars for the prices. The biggest issue for me was the cost. However I wasn’t surprised since it’s located in Hoboken. My goal was not to find something amazing for cheap, it was to find something interesting which I did.

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for original items at a higher price range and to anyone that enjoys...

the customer service is wonderful, and the items are clearly cared for: items include gloves, sunglasses, sweaters, graphic tees, denim, caps, dresses, records, jewelry, etc.

the prices are extremely reasonable (generally $19 for graphic tees, $39 for matching sets, etc.) considering the customer service, organization, and curation of quality items.

great spot for investing in statement pieces, or when looking to support local businesses.
