If you’re looking for a yoga practice that keeps you motivated and pushes your practice to a deeper level, you will love Surya Yoga. I started with the two week special and I was skeptical at first. Whether I’ll survive the heat, will It become monotonous or is it capable of magically converting me into a peaceful yogi as well as transform my body into that of a 20 year old. Needless to say, my expectations were high! One month later, I’m there 4-5 days a week and I’ve tried the intermediate flow, power yoga, toning class with weights and each one of them, though intrinsically different, are amazing classes with equally amazing instructors who are warm and empathetic towards your less than capable body. I have had serious back problems over the years, and yoga has been one of the primary components of my treatment. Yoga keeps my body limber, and my back mobile and strong. I don't know where my heart would be without this wonderful studio. It is heated yoga, and that can be off-putting for beginners, but I would suggest that if you are waffling about trying it, go ahead and dive in! I suspect that 2 or 3 classes in you may find yourself addicted to Surya Yoga's particular...
Read moreTheir classes really help me relax my body and mind. The space itself isn’t super pleasant (it’s underground and the ceiling the low) but it’s the instructors and fellow yogis that make the experience great! They try to make the classes more interesting by adding personal touches from the instructors (such as sound bath, sharing their thoughts and paragraphs from books, aromatherapy). I wish they had more weekend sessions (they have recently added Sunday night yaaay!) - their downtown JC location has more sessions. If you’re a first timer just go to their website to buy a two week unlimited pass for 40 dollars (max one session per day) and reservation via their website is easy. They’re responsive via...
