Thank you for making our day with you the best day of our 9 day Hawaii trip! My family was visiting Honolulu for a professional conference. My family is all about hunting and fishing. I was looking for an affordable fishing trip with a captain that was about enjoying the experience of being on the beautiful blue water as well as catching some fish. Not an easy find. Captain Jim was exactly that. He was engaging with my 14 year old son. Quite honestly, it would have been a great time, even if we didn't boat some fish. He had my son participating in the hunt for fish (looking for diving birds and driving the boat). He is just a fun captain to fish with. He is full of positivity and fun. Then there was the fish. Throughout the day we passed many boats. I never saw anyone catching fish.......but we did. We started dragging lures and it wasn't long till we were in the game. My son got on one line while I went for the other screaming line. I lost mine after a few cranks. My son brought his to the back of the boat. Captain Jim was on it. He brought it to the side and in came the Mahi Mahi (picture attached). High fives everywhere! Toward the end of the trip my son was able to grab a Bonita. Perfect for some Poke. As I said earlier, we were here for a conference. I expressed my predicament of not being able to cook the fish at the hotel. Captain Jim to the rescue. He knows so many people. He contacted a friend of his who is a chef (chef Sean Congdon alohaculinarygroup.com ). He agreed to have us bring our fish to his restaurant. He would then cook it for us. He made us three different meals. It was absolutely the best Mahi Mahi we have ever had. This all happened because of the great Captain Jim! While in Ohau my family visited a lot of sites and events. When we were flying home I asked my son what was the best thing we did in Hawaii. He stated, " Fishing with Captain Jim, it was the whole thing of fishing with him, catching the fish and then he found us Sean to cook what we caught....it was awesome!"

While this was not our first-ever charter fishing experience, it was without a doubt the BEST EVER! Our son researched numerous companies, and based on those reviews, we went with Captain Jim for our great adventure.

The boat was in great shape - the bathroom was clean and had all you’d need (LOL!). All lines, poles, and lures were stowed so as not provide any trip/fall hazard. The crew was exceptionally knowledgeable, helpful, and responsive to everyone in the family.

Our group of 5 (2 grandparents, our son, and 2 grandkids) are most certainly not expert fishermen - but from beginning to end, Captain Jim & first mate Hugo made our deep sea fishing expedition a fabulous time to remember. The initial safety and orientation briefing was professional, quick, and well-accepted by young and old alike, and off we went into the glorious waters off the shore of Oahu. We were truly in the “deep blue sea” in short order, ready and willing to cast our lines.

Once back on shore, Captain Jim filleted and bagged our catch for dinner that evening, and we couldn’t have gone to bed happier. We actually “fed the family” four nights with the delicious mahi-mahi, aka “Tenderloin of the Ocean.”

Side note: My husband had a favorite shirt that he unfortunately left on the boat in his exuberance to show off our catch to others in our group (firm and steady land-lubbers) who had elected to stay ashore. We contacted Captain Jim, who quickly found and mailed it to our home on the far shores of the mainland! Truly “above and beyond” is his motto!

Fishing in Hawaii has been a dream of mine since I was a kid, and Captain Jim's trip was definitely worth the wait. The ride out was absolutely beautiful, and I really enjoyed the scenery and famous Oahu sea + sky. And then we found the birds. Capt. Jim got us into the feeding area quickly and then the real fun started! We hooked into a beautiful yellowfin tuna, and while that was being pulled in, another line started screaming! That ended up being a 22# mahi-mahi (my dream fish)! It was absolutely beautiful. Reset the lines, and then we had 3 going at once. Husband was pulling in some sort of monster, but it spit the hook (darn). The other 2 lines brought in another tuna and ANOTHER mahi-mahi! My arms were so tired, but the adrenaline was kicked in big time. For a 4-hour trip, we definitely got way more than we expected, and Capt. Jim's passion for fishing (plus his many years of experience) definitely made the day everything we could have possibly wanted. I highly recommend, and hope to get to come back to Hawaii again to make...
