Food Pantry - Eaton Square — Local services in Honolulu

A small, slightly crowded but well stocked and well maintained grocery store.Open seven days a week, it is primarily a neighborhood grocers for a mid to higher class condominium, apartment and hotels in the area. Being the only well stocked (fresh produce, meats, frozen, etc) but smallish complete grocers around, prices are moderately high, but again, is a good, convenient shopping experience with excellent, very friendly staff. It also maintains a small, but again, well stocked Deli counter that has tasty hot meals and a la carte. They also have favorites such as bento, sushi plates, huli chicken, gourmet deli meats and cheeses, salads to order or pre-packaged, and a small bakery with hot fresh coffee. Handicapped access is through the main Ena Square entrance, then back down a ramp. A full size wheel chair would be a difficult, but not impossible effort. Again, it is a store that is well aware of its situation, and prices do reflect that, although they usually have many items on sale if you look. I shop there nearly exclusively with an occasional top up of expendables from a major supplier...

This place no longer deserves a star rating. I've been a regular customer at this store since before the turn of the century, literally. I've seen the service to customers go down. The employees just don't give you a great customer experience anymore. I've also seen the food availability and quality drop to low quality or expired items on the shelves I'm not talking one or two I mean a lot. My laulau I purchased was bad tasting when I looked at the expiration date it should have been pulled 4 days earlier. And last but not least the prices are ridiculously high, real high. Can of soup there is 6.49 same can of soup at another local store 1.98. It's like you are being robbed. It's so unfair and not necessary for them to jack up their prices the way they do. Wish someone would go in and make some needed adjustments and changes all around. They even raised the prices on cigarettes again some over a dollar a pack. I don't recommend this store to anyone anymore. I would rather go out of my way...

I went shopping here recently and the manager? starts following me around the store muttering things. I don't buy anything and she follows me out the door, still muttering to herself.

I come back another day and this time the security guard starts following me all around. Eventually he stops and says, "Oh, you're not him. You look like someone who shoplifted from here before. I am sorry for making you uncomfortable."

The security guard was very nice but the store manager was not. I know all haole people look alike to you people, but you have to be more careful. How would you like it if you came to my work place one day, and because in the past a short old Filipino lady commited some crime, so I start following you around and hassling and harassing you just becaue I am too dumb to tell you apart from someone else. I don't think you would like...
