Sorry but I was hungry and dove into my rare beef pho before taking a picture :) Basic, cozy family run Vietnamese restaurant with no nonsense service. Not a big space with many tables so there may be a wait, for both a table and your food coming out, if dining at peak meal times.
My pho was flavorful, came out exactly as I requested - none of the usual added beef fat on top (you can tell them “ clear broth” or not fatty, loose translation from what you would say in Vietnamese).
A little disappointed by portion size even when you order a “large” - it’s more like a medium size compared to the Bay Area or in LA, given that it costs about $17 & barely enough slices of beef (noticed this is typical at other Vietnamese restaurants in Honolulu). Def liked that they gave me a lot of fresh vegy garnish on the side (sprouts, basil leaves, etc.).
Overall, good for pretty tasty authentic Vietnamese food, but be prepared for the higher than expected bill & smaller than expected...
Read moreAfter traveling for 14 hours we were hungry and needed Pho near our hotel. Our driver from the airport recommended this place and said it was one of his favorites. We decided to walk over and check it out.
The place was a little divey but those places can sometimes be the best finds ever. The guy that took our order was very nice and sweet.
We ordered the Thin Pork Sirloin with shredded pork, fresh vegetables over Vermicelli Noodles which was very good. A few Shrimp spring rolls with a peanut dipping sauce which were really fresh. I loved the peanut sauce. We also got some Wok'd vegetables to be a little healthy. We ended up not order the Pho because it was so hot outside and we didn't feel like carrying a hot bowl of soup back to our balcony.
We had ourselves a nice little feast on the balcony as we watched the surfers and the boats in the harbor. Good food with an amazing view. Life doesn't get any...
Read moreWhat a find! My husband and I just happened upon this place while we were walking around one night looking for a place that was open and not too crowded. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and the service was friendly and efficient. We shared an order of Summer Rolls with peanut sauce; I had Pho with Eye Round Steak (served with plenty of fresh basil, bean sprouts and lemon wedge,) and my husband had Imperial Fried Rice. We were stuffed with delectable, savory food by the end of the meal! It felt as if we had come to someone’s house and their family had prepared a meal for us—very unpretentious and welcoming. While the decor is very basic, it is clean and functional and that is all that mattered to us because we wanted good food. We even spoke briefly with the chefs and complimented them on their skills at creating a wonderful meal. It’s just that kind of place—small, friendly and filled with...
