Had to change my rating from 5 stars to 3 stars. I honestly can't believe the difference in today's visit compared to our first visit. It was like night and day. The first time we went we had the french dip sandwich, the ahi dip and the gyoza sausage. It was all amazing. So we went back to try more food, but wow. It was some of the worst food we've ever had. We started with the loaded tots which came out and were obviously very old. That sort of thing happens from time to time at a restaurant when the cooks get lazy. It only takes 3 minutes to cook fresh tots, but instead we were served 30 minute old tots that were kept on some kind of warmer. The cheese sauce on them was broken and very liquidy. The flavor was gone and completely overpowered by the flavors of bbq and pickled onions. I wish that was the worst of it but we also ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was by far the worst pizza we've ever eaten, including $2 frozen pizza. The dough was still completely white and obviously undercooked. Thebserver should have never let it leave the kitchen that way. The sauce tasted like it was just from a can of Hunt's diced tomatoes. If you want pizza then go to Aloha brewing or Lanikai Brewing. Both of them make killer pizzas that are cheaper too. Our server was great and very attentive until he got another table. He proceeded to make 5 trips to that table before coming back to check on us. By which time his coworkers had already cleared all of our plates and glassware after they had sat there for awhile. I guess maybe he can only handle one table at a time? Honestly just couldnt be more disappointed. If we hadn't come here the first time and gotten such great service and had such delicious food, this would no doubt be a 1 star review and we would never come back. We may come back in the future to try other things, but with so many other amazing breweries and restaurants in the area, it will probably be a very long time. Disclaimer, we were starving and the food was expensive so we did eat it all. I grew up on some of the worst food imaginable so my stomach is made of iron and I don't...
Read moreThe one star is for the food, which is consistently good. The missing four stars are for the experience we had and the way the manager handled it.
We've eaten here many times and we always returned because the food is great and the prices are reasonable (for Waikiki). We're both allergic to gluten and we always make that clear when we order because accidentally eating wheat means all-night diarrhea and 2-3 days of flu-like symptoms.
I had just started a new job and was only one day into my employment. For training I have to fly to the Big Island every day for the first two weeks. So when our waiter flubbed or order and fed us wheat by accident it meant that I spent most of my night on the toilet, didn't sleep a wink, and struggled immensely on my second day at work. It was embarrassing, and probably didn't look good, or make a great impression with my new employer.
Even better, it was our third year anniversary and this was our dinner date to celebrate.
Accidents happen. I get it. But everything about that sucked, and it ruined our anniversary. Noting allergies is very important, because you literally could kill someone with that.
What bothered me the most is that the manager - Andy Flartey - gave me his card and said he would follow up with us but never called. Obviously he either forgot, or simply didn't care.
So eat here if you want. In all likelihood your experience will be better, especially if you have no allergies.
But what a rotten way to handle a mistake your staff made when it has a significant impact on your customer. I will never eat here again. There are plenty of places in Waikiki that have...
Read moreA Must-Visit Spot for Beer Lovers in Waikiki! Waikiki Brewing Company is everything you’d hope for in a local craft brewery with an island twist—laid-back vibes, top-tier brews, and surprisingly great food. Whether you're winding down after a day on the beach or kicking off a night out in Honolulu, this place hits the mark. The beer selection is excellent, with a solid variety ranging from crisp lagers to bold IPAs and smooth porters. You can really taste the care that goes into their brewing process. I highly recommend trying the English Brown Ale or the Aloha Spirit Blonde Ale—both were perfectly balanced and refreshing in the island heat. The food menu goes well beyond basic bar bites. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality—think smoky pulled pork, juicy burgers, and savory BBQ that pairs perfectly with any pint. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and came out hot. Service was quick and friendly, even during a busy evening. The staff made great recommendations and clearly knew the beers inside and out. The indoor-outdoor vibe and casual setting make it feel like a local hangout, not a tourist trap. Plus, the view of the mountains in the backdrop while sipping a cold one? Hard to beat. If you're in Waikiki and enjoy craft beer, this place should absolutely be on your list. Mahalo to the team for a...
