Rented 2 scooters for a full day; picked up at 9am. The first scooter that was given to me had only 1/4 tank full of gas, so I had to request a different one. Mind you, the whole thing is done through texting, so that took a bit, eating into my rental time. The other scooter wouldn’t even get up to 12 miles/hour, going up an incline, obviously a piece of junk. Stopped for a break, and when getting back on my scooter, it wouldn’t start, but after messing with it for about 15 minutes, finally got it started. Took a break for lunch, and my scooter started ok, but after taking off, it died and left me stranded on the side of the road. I had to text the scooter rental place, because they refuse to take a phone call and after more than an hour of trying to start the bike, I was told to call an Uber and they would come and pick the scooter up later. After texting pictures of where I was leaving the scooter, I got a text saying that since I was out of their boundary, they were not going to reimburse me for the Uber, but for a faulty piece of equipment, that they obviously did not keep maintained, were going to charge me $250 dollars to tow this moped; mind you this moped can be picked up by 2 people and easily placed into the bed of a truck. When I got back to the rental place, I had to get another scooter since I still had 2 hours left on my rental agreement, BUT again, I wasted more of my “rental” time due to messing with their faulty equipment and then having to get ANOTHER scooter towards the end of the day. Instead of offering me any kind of discount or refund, they charged me $250 for their broken down scooter. Beware of what you’re renting and who you’re...
Read moreYou will want to stay far far away from this place there scooters are questionable. Should have walked away upon seeing the line of beat up and salvaged scooters. As an Airline captain I would walk away from a plane that was questionable should have done that here. My partner was riding when the steering locked up on a curve causing a head on collision with a car. While my partner was in the hospital. This company starts charging the credit card for more then the scooter is even worth before the Trauma Doctor can stabilize you. There are charges they do not say what they are for. This is all from there lack of maintenance and poor condition of the scooter. Again tourist beware Hind sight is should have walked away there are other scooter moped rentals that have a much higher quality product . Please save your self the trouble, heartache and possible life stay...
Read moreI had a terrible experience with Scooter Rental Hawaii. Right from the start, I was given two different scooters that were both broken — the first wouldn’t start, and the second had serious brake issues. It was clear they don’t properly inspect or maintain their bikes before renting them out.
Even worse, after returning the scooter, they charged me $545 for damage that was clearly there before I ever left the lot. Thankfully, I had taken photos of the bike before the rental, showing the damage, but they still refused to take any responsibility. So I charged back with my bank, I’d recommend doing the same after rental. It is NOT worth it.
The whole situation felt like a setup to charge customers for pre-existing issues. Extremely disappointing and frustrating. I would not recommend this place to anyone — there are better, more honest rental options in...
