If you care about hygiene and comfortable service, this is not the right place for you. I don't know about other nail artists, but I want to share my experience with a middle-aged Asian woman from this nail salon.
I visited here to get a new gel manicure set, I got the previous one from another place in Hawaii. When I got seated, this middle-aged Asian lady put my entire fingers into a bowl of acetone. All the places I have visited have never used this method before, so I just did what she told me to do. Of course, it hurt my skin, and I asked her if there were other ways to get rid of my old set. She was like, I'm "allergic" to acetone and I should've let her know. And then she put the used acetone into a bottle like she would use it again. The equipment and the table were very dirty and needed to be wiped down.
I told her I wanted to take off my wedding ring because I didn't want my ring to get dirty, and she told me she wouldn't touch it and kept going. Who would wanna put on a $6400 diamond ring while getting nails done?
She kept assuming I was Japanese, asking if I got the nails in Japan, or if I was Japanese. I told her I'm Korean and I'm married to an American, and then she was like, "Oh, your English is really good". Ma'am. I'm very certain I was speaking more fluent English than you.
She asked if I'd had other American boyfriends, so I told her I had had Korean boyfriends. Then she told me that Korean men are controlling therefore American men are better and more romantic. I disagreed with her, and she stopped talking. That was inappropriate.
I normally don't write reviews because it's a hassle, but this was the worst experience ever. I always feel happy after getting my nails done, but I came out...
Read moreCame here looking for my island go-to for eyebrow threading, which I've come to realize isn't as common on the island as I thought. Low and behold these guys had a Groupon for eyebrow threading so I thought "why not give them a shot at a discounted price to take them for a test drive". Low and behold, although to me they were a little pricey compared to what we paid in Portland get get threaded, after comparing the prices on the island for the few places I found, this place ended up being the best deal. $20 for threading is robbery imo BUT this was literally the best price I could find on the island, so $20 it is.
After getting threaded, and showing the wife for the official approval of their work, we approve! Erica was my threader. She had a very gentle touch. She also did minimum skin pinching which for me is huge b/c my eyes water so easily and my eye skin is very sensitive. The following day I had zero red spots around my brows which is what usually happens when I get someone who ends up grabbing the skin too much when trying to grab just the hair.
Long story short, this has become my spot! It may cost more than were accustomed to, but we're not in Portland anymore so the price is the price but at least they do great quality work, when it comes to their threading as I cannot speak to any other of their...
Read moreI usually go to somewhere different but went with a family friend who wanted somewhere closer to Ala Moana. Bad decision. The lady that did my nails was clearly in a rush. When putting on the extensions, she burned ALL my fingers while curing the nails on. Even when I clearly move my hand away to alleviate the pain but she still didn't do anything to change it. Even going so far as to put the cure light right next to my skin.
When doing the prep, she cut the skin near my cuticle on my thumb. I chose to do a gel mani and she didn't even paint one side of my right ring finger. I expected good quality even when rushed but I was expecting too much.
Comfort was a 0. The seats were really uncomfortable and those pillows didn't help whatsoever. I've been to other salons in Hawaii and in other countries but this was probably the worst one. And the table area is so crowded and tools just seemed so messy.
I definitely wouldn't come back. Even in a rush, there can still be some good quality, you just won't...
