My Family and my friends wanted to eat here on the last day we were in Oahu because it was so close to our hotel. so we called to see if they had an opening for a large party. the lady on the phone said yes we do at 7:30 pm. So we took the time she said. We were in the parking lot looking for parking because it was Mothers day, so it was more busy than usual. so we did a courtesy call saying we were down in the parking lot so we might be five minutes late. She said oh it might be a little wait. and then said 30 minutes. we were kind of shocked but we said okay that is fine. we got up to the restaurant and and my friend asked them if they had an opening for our large party they said no we are not taking any more parties. so now we're like okay. so we walked around made reservations and waited. then we go back and have my other friend go and ask and they take him. so we go in and have a seat. We got tea, ordered our drinks, and then the waitress came and starts taking our order. mind you we eat this kind of food all the time. we know what the food is and how it looks and all that. but she started talking to my friend like he was dumb. he was ordering charsiu fried rice. and he said charsiu fried rice multiple times and she dared to point to each fried rice selection and said charsiu, chicken, or beef in a very rude, sarcastic tone. and my friend said I said charsiu two times. and then we were ordering chowmein noodles for my son He is not a big veggie eater so all we said was no vegetables, and she gasped and said no veggie? so dry noodles in again a very rude, sarcastic tone. and we said yeah. it was almost like she was trying to make us feel stupid when we knew what we wanted. before we even got in because we were looking at the menu prior. so anyways at this point, I said, I don't want to eat here I am going to walk out. they are rude, and most definitely racist as the whole restaurant was only Asians at every single table. They knew what they were doing because we didn't even get our drinks 10 minutes into our sitting. That place is chaotic, the seats are dirty and the workers should learn customer service and not question what the customers want to order. I will never eat there nor would I ever recommend anyone to that...

We've heard so much about it on the radio and tv commercials. My husband and I decided to try it out. Major anticipation for delicious Chinese food. What a let down.. as soon as we walked in we were told there is no dim sum.. we said ok, we'll try something else. Wanted to try their salad, nope, you have to order a day in advance..Ordered egg drop soup with pork, minimal pork lots of mushrooms.. 1 individual rice, Kahuku shrimp it honestly looked like the same one I get at Sam's club, I asked for pork broccoli on cake noodles, they don't make that, only beef broccoli (don't care too much for beef) got pork and bean sprouts on cake noodle, ½ order roast duck ( it was a skinny duck) and steamed fish. they started bringing out our food. After about 20 min we told our waitress to cancel our fish we were almost done with dinner, she said it's almost done they still steaming it.. another 10 min went by we told the next waiter to just cancel our order.. another 10 min they bought our fish.. Food wasn't the best tasting, We've had better ( Fook Yuen) it was average. We spent most of our time fanning bugs.. literally fanning them away from us and our food. Just behind us there was another couple doing the same thing.. fanning bugs.. one literally flew up my husband's nose he started sneezing, im sure people were thinking he was sick or something..at this point we just want to leave. We ask for the bill and take out containers. $93.00 later.. we're at home eating eggs and wishing we went to Fook Yuen. If you love authentic Chinese food go to Fook Yuen. Call in advance to make a reservation. We spend around the same amount and get AMAZINGLY tasty food and good portions too Including at least 2 orders of salt and pepper...

We have dined here before for dimsum and small groups for dinner, but for this review, our family came here with 5:30pm dinner reservations for 7. We placed our $200 order in advance before we arrived to beat the dinner rush. However, our waiter didn’t put in our order when we sat down. We waited for 50 minutes until our first order, our bowl of soup arrived. Three other tables that sat down after us received their food, finished and paid. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and conversational to the other tables. On the other hand, we had to flag down waiters for absolutely everything, including asking for an extra table setting, asking to make sure our order wasn’t forgotten, yet never receiving an answer until flagging down a waiter a second time, asking for takeout boxes twice because the waiter kept underestimating how much take out boxes we needed. Expecting us to pack Peking duck buns with Shanghai fried noodles.. The great part was that there were about three other waiters walking our area and it was easy to flag someone down. Also, once our first dish arrived after 50 minutes, the rest of our dinner arrived within 10 minutes. The Peking duck with buns was the highlight of our dinner and quite a popular choice. Our last dish before dessert was stir fried bok choy with garlic and they didn’t wash the vegetables throughly. The leaves were filled with dirt and some of us crunched into the sandy, texture of dirt before realizing it was dirt. Our mango pudding dessert was served to us in disposable plastic condiment sized cups with plastic spoons for $4.50 each. It was heavy on gelatin which made it thick and dry and not very flavorful. Overall, we had a poor experience for our expectations about...

5 stars food, dim sum freshly made and served hot directly from the kitchen (not cooled down after circling the dining room in a push cart). 4 stars for service, which can be frustrating at times (but nice if you happen to get an attentive waiter like David). Prices are a little higher compared to Chinatown, probably due to higher Ala Moana rent. Come early or make reservations if you don't want to wait. Great place for dim sum then walk it off around the giant mall :) Update - we came back for dinner on a Sat night and the placed is already packed at 6pm. Be warned, part or all of the place may be booked for special events so call ahead if you really want to eat here on a particular Fri-Sun evening. Dinner menu is extensive and prices are what you might expect given its location, but not bad since portion size is fair to generous depending on the dish. The steamed fish fillet, ham & mushroom was unexciting & one note flavor, we would not order it again. However, our favorite was the stir fried green beans with minced pork - best if you ask for extra spicy. This dish here is as good or better than the one I fell in love with having for the first time in Shanghai last year! The fried tofu and eggplant dish is also pretty good, but better if you ask them to make it more spicy. "Spicy" for Chinese food is mild-medium for typical spicy dishes in SE Asian countries such as Thailand and Vietnam. Yellow jacket waiter David (speaks English and Mandarin very well) is friendly and helpful.

After having a very subpar experience back in 2013 where almost everything we ordered was out, we never returned until now. A decade plus has done them good! ATMOSPHERE: From the outside it looked like they were closed. But after checking in with the host and rounding the corner, the packed and bustling dining room revealed itself. FOOD: Beef Look Fun Roll Steamed though not as moist or flavorful as Legend or Happy Days’ versions. Roasted Duck Crisp skin and tender meat. The spouse was in love with the accompanying sauce. Steamed Shrimp & Pork Dumplings (3 pcs.) Bigger and thicker than the norm, these were excellent. Baked Egg Custard Tarts (3 pcs.) Light, eggy, buttery, heavenly! Steamed BBQ Pork Buns (3 pcs.) Like a flowering bun exposing its stigma of red pork, the spouse loved it. Fried Rice w/ Chinese Sausage In Hot Stone Pot Yowza! Delish! Especially with the lup chong. Chicken Feet with Black Bean Mmm my all time fave dim sum dish. The flavor was very bold, perfectly steamed and tender, except for one foot that was rubbery. Pan Fried Chicken Potstickers These things were huge! Thicker than normal shells, expertly seared with crispy exteriors and steamed insides. Highly recommended. SERVICE: I was taken aback as the service was quite good in terms of how Chinese restaurants go. The expected curtness was absent, replaced by professionalism. OVERALL: Who knew they’d become a favorite?

Food was good! Nothing that will blow you away! The preparation was spot on however, perfectly cooked. Just lacking in flavors that will excite. Not bland by any means, but lacking for sure. The alcoholic beverage I ordered also lacked any noticeable amount of liquor. I didn’t taste any nor feel any buzz whatsoever, not even a tingle. Service: Upon entering Hostess lacked any hosting skills. No eye contact, no pleasantries, no warmth. Just a “no dim sum, only dinner ok?”. walks us to our table, slaps the menus down and leaves without a word. training is needed. The server Kyle was fantastic however. Very friendly, and helpful to start out our orders and touched table a few times to make sure everything was ok. Courses came out randomly, brought out by food runners. Nothing notable other than entrees came out as they were done cooking, first the meats and the rice last. Wish we had the rice with our meats but not a big deal. The buns ordered with our braised ribs were also noticeably old. Prices were decent but not cheap either. Portions were pretty decent. The tea served was nice! Did taste cheap however. All in all, I wouldn’t plan to take anyone here, or plan to go back. I’ve had better American-Chinese from a food court. “A” for effort, “D” for execution. Lots of better options in Ala Moana mall, sadly.
