Huikala Baptist Church — Local services in Honolulu

There is no perfect church....but this church is PERFECT for our family! If you are looking for a church that is "like family", a Preacher who preaches and teaches God's Word and doesn't include his own opinions or preferences, a Pastor and wife who truly care about the people and are interested in you and your family reaching your full potential for Christ, interested in loving others and showing God's love to them, then this is the church for you! I have been in church all of my life. We are military and so we have moved alot and visited numerous churches. It is rare to find somewhere like Huikala! You are loved unconditionally but challenged in your walk and knowledge of Jesus. I often say that I wish everyone could experience church like we do. It doesn't matter what you look like, what you are wearing, your race, your spiritual condition (the list could go on)...you are welcome! Children's programs are great! We have Super church on Sunday morning and Kids club on Wednesday night. A clean and fun nursery is provided for infants and toddlers so that parents can enjoy the services. It's a great place to serve Jesus! My favorite part of this ministry is "Be the Church". Occasionally, we do things together as a church to show the love of Jesus, but we are challenged EVERY week to daily show Jesus' love to others. Come visit! I promise you won't find another place around where you will feel welcomed and loved like you will at Huikala...

My family of three have been attending Huikala for about 3 months now. The members are so welcoming and warm. I appreciate how passionate they are about sharing the love of Jesus through their words as well as their actions. It is always so encouraging and a blessing to see the faithful members still active in the church.

The atmosphere is modern in terms of chairs instead of pews, and words projected on the screen versus hymnal books. The music is a combination of old hymns and contemporary christian songs. And the instrument used is mostly the piano, but the guitar, ukulele, and a cajo’n are used as well and sounds heavenly when played together.

Paster King preaches God’s word as it is. He does not mince words or change words so as not to hurt feelings. Pastor King preaches the actual Bible and not some watered down version. He gives a historical context when preaching so you can grasp the ideology and life of the time being discussed. This is a bible preaching-bible believing church just like Christ’s church in the book of Acts.

My family of three have grown immensely closer to the Lord over the past several months with this amazing body of believers. So much so, that we decided to join Huikala. And it’s amazing to see just how much this church is stirring people’s hearts. It’s special! And, my family and I want to be a part of it. I've visited Huikala twice already. The people there are friendly and welcoming. Pastor Anthony shook my hand and sent me a postcard later in the week; I also received a nice welcoming gift by another church member. That was nice, too.😚

Now, as for the actual teaching and preaching: my 1st Sunday worship there, Pastor Anthony read a few verses out of the book of Romans. Then, for the remainder of the time, (in my opinion, seemed like a platform for Pro Life). For the record, I am Pro Life. This is not about that. I understood how the scriptures read applied to this issue, as well as other societal ills. The baptists churches I've worshipped at in the past would spend the bulk of the time on what GOD's Word says and how christians are to apply it to their lives. So I left thinking maybe this is not where the Holy Spirit wants me to settle down at. The following Sunday I decided to give it go there one more time. This time-the pastor not only preached/taught unashamedly from the Word, I was being fed the Word! I appreciate how the LORD uses faithful servants, as I did observe this time through Pastor Anthony to feed and lead the flock at Huikala.

I may just continue to come here if the teaching remains what I observed this past Sunday. Good solid teaching and no excuses or qualms to be real and true to the Word of GOD.
