So frustrated with OTF Honolulu! What happened today was the worst customer service I've ever experienced! Now I know that Honolulu has two OTF studios....one in Waikiki that is open, and one on Ala Moana Blvd that is NOT open....and I had to learn that the hard way! I'm new to Hawaii and have 8 classes to use from my old OTF studio. I called the number on the OTF website for the Ala Moana studio to find out when they would open. The guy who answered the phone stated that they were actually open now and I could schedule a class. I showed up the next day for my class at the Ala Moana location and spent 15 minutes walking around the building trying to find the place. I called the number no less than 6 times trying to get someone from the studio on the phone to tell me exactly where they were located since I knew I was in the right building. I asked three different businesses there if they knew where OTF was, and no one knew what I was talking about. My class was at 0930, so by 0940, I gave up and sent an email asking where they were located and was pretty frustrated that no one at the studio could answer the phone.
Fast forward a few hours later and I tried calling again just to find out what actually happened and the same guy that scheduled me answered again. He basically acted like I was bugging him by calling, that I was wrong about no one knowing where the location was, and he wanted to know if I actually wanted anything because he was busy. Oh, and that answering phones isn't part of his job if there are people in the studio. I told him to confirm that the location was on Ala Moana Blvd, like the website showed. At that point he was like, "Oh, yeah, this is a different location, we just had the phone number for the other location forwarded here". There was no apology....no attempt to fix the problem....and was again told that I'm bothering him by calling. So basically I wasted my morning looking for a studio that's not open because the Waikiki instructor could not be bothered with confirming the location of the studio. Now I have 8 classes that are going to waste because there's no way I'm going to a place that treats its customers that...
Read moreOTF is a really great workout with a good combination of cardio on the treadmills and water rowers and strength training with free weights and TRX straps! I have definitely gotten stronger and felt it on my last trip to Chicago when I helped clear out my uncle's place. It was easier to lift furniture and I could more easily put heavy bags in the airplane overhead bins despite being only 4'10"!! They also always have activities to keep you going and accountable! This weekend is the Dri Tri - superhero themed! First class is free! Everyone should check it out!
Previous review for reference:
I really love the OTF workout – I feel that it’s a really good mix of cardio and weight training. Since each day is a different workout with a different emphasis, it keeps the workouts interesting and makes me want to work out every day so I don’t miss out on a good one!
I also like the variety of exercises on the weight floor that includes equipment like the TRX straps and BOSU ball. I have felt that after all the different types of workouts I have done, I have seen the most progress in my strength with these OTF workouts.
Wearing the heart rate monitor really helps keep me accountable as I can see how much I’m putting into the workout. The individual monitors they now have on the treads and rowers makes it more of a “you vs you” workout and less about comparing yourselves to others. Overall it’s a great workout and a great...
Read morePrior to joining OTF, I would try to maintain a consistent workout schedule in anything, but would always fall off 2-3 weeks later. Whether it was lifting weights, running, Pilates, cycling, etc. I could not maintain anything due to my lack of accountability and most of these things being boring to me after an extended period of time. Therefore, I was looking for a change in my workout routine.
I decided to join OTF because I learned a little more about the structure of the class, and found out that you just show up and complete what is planned for each class! I don't have to think about what areas to hit, how long to run on the treadmill, ALL of that is prepared. I also enjoy the "game-ified"/incentivized aspect of tracking my progress (splat points/HRP).
After joining OTF, I feel much better knowing that I'm taking care of my health. It's been three months since my first OTF class and I'm glad I joined! (Side note: My golf has also improved immensely!) I would definitely recommend OTF to any adult looking to start or improve their journey in fitness.
For anyone that is nervous to join by themselves, the coaches and front desk staff are extremely friendly and more than happy to answer any questions or just to chat. It's an environment with good vibes and you leave feeling awesome...
