I'm not sure why this place is so highly rated. I visited this place for late lunch and ordered the Hawaiian roll with kale salad, the roll had no flavor and was just filled with tons of greens with very little rice and hummus, and I could not taste the avacado. The kale salad was advertised in the menu as kale, avacado, papaya, and hemp seeds; i instead received kale, blueberry and hemp seeds with a dressing that was so sour that the salad was inedible. My husband ordered firecracker tantan ramen, and it was a boring flavor. I couldn't finish the entire bowl. We also ordered berry choco paradise and blue crush, both with added protein. The choco paradise was good, but the blue crush tasted artificial.
The service was okay. the staff was friendly and helpful when I asked for soy free options in the menu. They did (likely) made up excuse when I asked about the kale salad and why it did not match the listing.
Overall, this was the only place where we had bad food in hawaii in our 8 day stay. We are vegan, and i also can not eat soy, and yet we were able to find better...
Read moreNice to have a healthier option. They say they are free of refined sugar, and while using the term “plant based” aren’t vegan, but it seems like everything on the menu can be vegan. Hard to say since the menu isn’t labeled with V (or GF.)
I ordered the large acai bowl (which I confirmed is GF) and added vegan protein. My husband didn’t add protein, and I preferred his. The protein made it overly sweet (not sure what they use for protein, tho I assume it’s not sugar-filled.)
My other preference would be to have the granola on top only, not the bottom where it got soggy. Flavor was okay, but very soupy. Definitely not the best acai bowl I’ve had. And for $16 I hoped for a bit more. My husband’s did have cacao nibs (guess they forgot), and was a little icy. Next time I would skip the protein and add nut butter. Other menu items looked yummy, so I’d like to try their meals. Nice spots to eat inside or on the patio shared with Morning Brew. Someone sat next to us with Acai bowls from Lanikai Juice, which were filled above the brim…but...
