I pretty much don't post reviews at all, even if Google asks me to. I only post a review if said shop truly operates with aloha and goes above and beyond what is expected(Detailed review below)
RV's surf shop's owner, Roy, did a fantastic job on repairs for my fiberglass 9'0". His prices are VERY fair (payed $60 for over 5 dings and multiple fiberglass shatters). The fiberglass repair job was excellent, I opted out on color matching, but the repair is flush, uniform, and smooth. Roy also sells all kinds of used boards for fair prices. While all this is great, I would be remiss to mention that Roy will treat you with aloha and like family!!! To me, that is what makes a shop go from good to great!
P.S. don't park in front or on the corner of D.J.'s barbershop. They or one of the people in the housing unit are quick to give tickets (like less than a minute and the cops were called...
Read moreGreat, low-key surf shop that has been operating for over 20 years now. My dad grew up in Honolulu and said the shop because it reminds him of the shops he used to go to back in the day. The owner, Roy, is friendly and knowledgable. The prices at the shop are great. Full-day rentals of surfboards are very affordable, and he also lets you come pick the board up the evening before so you can use it that evening or first thing in the morning of your actual rental day. What a deal! Roy also does surf lessons and surf guides every morning--the latter being for intermediate surfers in which he goes out with you and gives you more pointers of ways to improve. Roy is a supportive and mellow surf guide/teacher, and I had a good time chatting with him in between sets. Overall, a much more affordable alternative to anything else you'll find, especially down the...
Read moreThis surf shop is for people who are interested in surfboards, and who appreciate the genuine kindness that we like to think used to accompany classic surf culture. It’s a refreshing contrast to generic surf shops who focus mostly on trendy apparel and flashy accessories. Roy maintains a true “mom and pop” style business, where BOARDS are at the center, and he always has a large and interesting mix of used and consignment boards, and always has some interesting repairs and board projects to check out. There is something here to enjoy, regardless of if you are a tourist looking for lessons, or a salty old guy hoping to find an interesting classic board to take home. Stop by and...
