Galleria Oaks is an absolutely fantastic place to live. When I discovered this gem in Houston I was hesitant to believe it could be truly great because it's so hard to find an apartment that is, or rather, an apartment complex. I read many reviews about Galleria Oaks and most were positive with a few "caveats", I cannot speak for the past but over the last 3 weeks that I've lived here and 2 months (since I first walked into the office) I can say that the current property management company not only cares a lot about this property but they also have what very well may be the best staff in the entire world.
Just to name a few (yes, I'm a real resident, this review is not endorsed, the service is just THAT good that I remember every detail): From the day I walked in, Amanda, Mary & Sally were beyond pleasant. They were downright incredibly. Amanda gave me enough information to make an informed decision and walked me through every step of the process. When we came on a Sunday (figuring they'd be closed, but we were closed by) another young lady helped us out who was also absolutely incredible. As I advanced with the renting process I had the pleasure of working with Nikki, who like the other gals at Galleria Oaks is kind, efficient and downright awesome.
The grounds at Galleria Oaks are meticulously maintained and it's evident. In my short time here I seen a single area (of the MANY) garden areas which was in less than perfect condition (a few dead plants due to weather). Almost IMMEDIATELY after it was noticeable the maintenance crew was redoing the entire garden section (near the main pool), in fact, they continued to work even in the pouring rain. The dedication and obvious enjoyment the staff has for the property here is incredible and visible throughout everywhere on the property.
The pool is always clean, the jacuzzi clean, the community spotless. Everyone is friendly, the laundry room is in great shape (albeit - most apartments have new washers and dryers).
Some of the complaints I've seen in past years from people (I read these before I moved in) included many things which I think are now remedied, let me go on to those to help you if you are considering an apartment:
-Internet issues: In the past the internet and cable was locked to a single provider, this is NO LONGER the case. Comcast Xfinity and AT&T are readily available. I was able to transfer my Xfinity service online free and move my own equipment, it took less than 12 hours to become active. Nobody had to come out, no techs, etc.
-Water issues: The water is ALWAYS great here. No odors, sediments or other weird stuff. Water pressure is absolutely outstanding in the showers (literally the best I've had) and hot water is readily available and not limited.
The apartments themselves are in great shape, the building is older from the 60's and they know it, so they've remodeled properly. The apartments are all carpet-less and have nice ceramic or wood plank floors. Mine are ceramic and "wood look". Plenty of outlets, updated appliances and even built in mirrors make my apartment nice. It's fully updated and there is nothing I would complain about.
Rent and maintenance requests can be done online albeit I'm hesitant as I really like going to the office. The staff is just so freakin awesome. It's really hard to emphasize, even as I am not a "people person", I'd rather go into the office. In fact, regularly, I debate bringing them all coffee when I get off work but don't want them to feel like I am a creeper (haha).
Parking - you get one spot per bedroom. The parking lot is gated (and yes, they have a smartphone app to open/close). It's all covered and well lit, spaces are easily available. This is because they take parking seriously. After 7PM only cars with a sticker can be in the garage. They do not sell parking stickers, it's one per apartment because they don't want parking complaints. Additional parking is available outside and on the street. It's safe and quiet. There is a courtesy officer all night. ...
Read moreMy girlfriend moved into this complex on december first, she does not drive so she gave me her parking permit becasuse i visit her often and when i do i usually spend the night at her apartment.
we have been 2 & 1/2 months and my car has been towed from the parking garage twice. Thw first time i parked on a spot that said "reserved" in faded paint that you could barely see on the ground, however i Paid the $300 dollars to get my car back and did not complain. Today my car was towed from the same exact spot that i park in every single time I go there and the tow truck company told me its because i didnt have aparking permit. Somehow my sticker is not on my front windshield anymore and instead of giving me a warning or notifying me that the tiny little sticker they provide was no longer there they towed my car. (I park here every single day almost.. 4 x per week if not more.)
When i went to the front office the lady working the front desk showed no compassion, and actually started telling me they towed me because of my vehicle registration which is not expired..im waiting on my sticker to come in the mail. However she insists that the reason the company towed me was because My vehicle registration was out of date. Which is completely different than what the tow truck company told me. I have had the same out of date sticker on my windshield for the entire 55 days that i have resided here with no issued. She also tried to tell me that i had already been towed twice ffrom the complex which is false. I told her I had been towed once and she basically acused me of lying saying no you have been towed twice.
Avoid this place and if you park here and get your vehicle registered you better make sure they dont plan on sending your tag in the mail because if they do, apparetnly this complex has the right to tow your vehicle because your vehicle registration is out of date. I have never heard of any place ever having a policy like that and i have lived in several apartment complexes in houston.
The lady who worked the front desk was very argumentative and dismissive of anything I said. I am always very polite and it was almost like she thought i was lying to her. She definitely actively works to get peoples cars towed from the complex and does not show an ounce of compassion about the tenants who reside here. Just read the reviews of this place and you can see that is a common issue people living...
Read moreI decided to update my review with an explanation so read to know how it has come to affect me long term. Its so sad how they react towards people ....Unfortunately the time I was going to lease here I was affected by Huricane Harvey. I came to the office I was extremely satisfy with the customer service Amanda provided . But soon after Mary took over it was Hell. Worst experience with any apartment complex. My apartment was flooded and the apartment complex terminated my lease . As anyone would, I took advantage of their their no administration fee , no application fee only a $200 deposit for the apartment. Filled an application paid the deposit and not only did IIIIII have to keep calling to to get an update on my application they took over 3 weeks or even more to just get denied for something that was out of my knowledge and my $200 deposit was refused ( I understand their policy and restriction) But thought that was unfair as it was their special at the time . I explained to them my situation I gave them papers, living in a hotel with 2 kids was no fun. Having to spend money to lease an apartment as soon as possible, I kept asking for my $200 deposit I placed for the apartment ( note i was only working temoparly because we have been displaced) and they kept refusing it. I came plenty of times to speak with Mary (unfortunately she's the manager ) to get a reason on why was I denied my $200 deposit. She always was so defensive and rude when I simply came at her in a nice manner to gather some information. Since then its been hell visting my sister and even coming to the pool with her (seems more like retalition because I told them I was most likely sue them for the deposit they have denied til this day ) we are 4 sisters with kids one of them come with my sister and kids nothing is told but as soon I come to supervise my kids ( I don't get in the pool just dress in case of an incident) at the pool to play with their cousins she(Mary) always comes a tells something to her . My kids can't even come enjoy time with their aunt and cousins at the pool without being called out by Mary alllll the time . We already went through enough to keep going through things like this . Another thing she alway extremely busy but has the time to chat and smoke at the pool . It really seems she had some kind of retaliation and she is ALWAYS RUDE. So I'm actually glad I didn't move here and lease...
