Below is the feedback I have Dr. Haas' staff after my fourth visit to the office. The first visit I waited a solid two hours as I was informed I probably would. The next two visits were shorter but never under 45 minutes to an hour. The last visit I waited for 3 hours for a procedure that takes less than five minutes ...
"The whole situation could have been managed. It was not.
I waited 3 hours for a 5 minute visit. For about the last 20 minutes of my visit I got to listen to the doctor talk to what I assume was a sales rep outside my door, while I had to reschedule a meeting that I might have been able to make had he not been chatting it up. The response when I pointed that out was "Oh yeah, they're always wanting to get my time." That alone was unacceptable but listening to the person drone on for about an hour off and on before that wasn't particularly professional either.
I'll add that unlike most of the people in the waiting room, I knew there was the potential for a delay. So I prepared for it by bringing my work and scheduling appts to accommodate that possibility. It was nerve-racking enough to have to listen to other patients try to work out how to get quicker attention but more infuriating is that I was the first person in the waiting room that morning, and I'm pretty sure I was the last of that group to leave.
I understand that the doctor is in demand, but I'm an independent consultant - I'm in demand too and only get paid for the time I actually work. So, I lost money that day on top of being treated like crap. The difference with my work is that I don't have the option of just leaving my clients in a waiting room or in a room where I hope they can't hear me, or my staff or random salespeople. As it was, when he finally got to me, he was rushed and I ended up with more discomfort that lasted longer than normal.
The whole visit/experience was just wholly unnecessary, unprofessional and rude. And to offer me another doctor after 2.5 hours of waiting is pretty insulting as well. I chose Dr. Haas because I wanted him. For such a sensitive issue, there is a reason why I chose him and wouldn't appreciate being passed around for a procedure that I believe requires a level of confidence and trust.
I'm about to be 56. I've seen a lot of doctors and have friends that are doctors. This is not a normal experience but it has been normalized by this office. So the fact that the only follow up I got was a call to schedule a colonoscopy and this survey is laughable. Why would I schedule a colonoscopy with someone who does not respect my time, or me as a patient who chose them? Furthermore, why would I schedule a colonoscopy with someone that might take an hour, or three or more just because they don't value the relationship or respect the individual or their own time constraints? I truly am shocked. Dr. Haas seems very adept and respected - but that doesn't condone how I was treated. Nor should it be acceptable to any doctor or...

Dr. Haas and his team are the BEST when it comes to diseases of the colon!!
I was diagnosed with diverticulitis in N. Texas in November of 2020. The doctor I had seen wrote me a prescription for augmentin and said to fill the prescription if I had a diverticulitis attack.
Well, 2 years of constant pain and 4 prescriptions later the illness never ceased.
We moved from N. Texas to the coast in January 2022. I met with. GI doctor after the move. On February 26, 2023 I awoke in excruciating pain. I thought it was another diverticulitis attack.
The time it was different. Nothing I took eased the pain. My husband rushed me to an ER. Fortunately they were able to perform a CT SCAN. The ER insisted I be transported by ambulance to the local hospital where I was told had a tear in my colon and sepsis.
2 surgeries and 18 days later, I was released with a wound vac and no answers to how the tear happened or a fix for the diverticulitis.
I made a commitment to myself that I would see a colon surgeon as soon as my incision was healed. So, in July of 2023 I began the search for a colon specialist.
My search led me to Dr. Haas and Houston Colon.
From the moment I called his office I knew this doctor was different.
After my initial call an intake specialist called me to get a history of what was going on. The questions she asked and the time she took to listen to me was different than any other doctor I had seen!
My first appointment was a telehealth visit with Dr. Haas. Within 2 weeks I met with Dr. Haas in person. **The office is run like a finely tuned engine!
Dr. Haas reviewed all the CT SCANS from my hospital stay in February/March. I told him my biggest fear was having a tear again. A colonoscopy was scheduled for the end of August. Colon surgery was scheduled for September 15.
Surgery -
I went in on Friday morning the 15th. I was up walking the evening of my surgery, with very little pain. I was home Sunday afternoon. Within 2 weeks I was eating normal food. The constant pain I had been experiencing for 2 and a half years was gone!!
Iām 2 months post surgery and Iāve never felt this good in my life!
I was told the doctors I saw in February saved my life. Dr. Haas gave me my life back!! Forever grateful Dr Haas!!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTLDR? Dr. LeFave is the best colon surgeon. Heās an expert, has excellent bedside manner, and knows what heās doing.
Detailed version: A few years ago, I had a fissure that healed on its own. It was extremely painful, but I wish I had met Dr. LeFave then. In November, I was diagnosed with a fistula after experiencing symptoms. I met with Dr. LeFave and other surgeons to discuss how to resolve the issue.
I felt most comfortable with Dr. LeFave and his staff because they were all very engaged and attentive. Dr. LeFave explained that the fistula could require more than one surgical procedure, depending on the first surgery.
In my case, the first surgery revealed a fistula track that needed additional drainage. I had a seton placement for about 6 weeks. The 6 weeks were uncomfortable, but with the medication, diet plan, and home health tips from Dr. LeFave, I was able to manage my recovery.
For my second surgery, I hoped for a fistulotomy, which is the most effective treatment for permanently resolving fistulas. Thatās exactly what happened. My recovery after surgery 2 was significantly more pleasant compared to the first, but Iām taking it easy to avoid aggravating the wound.
Overall, Dr. LeFave has been instrumental throughout the process, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a...
