The GameStop location here in Huntersville is not a bad one, they often have all the newest games in stock and the employees are very helpful, and knowledgeable about many kinds of games. They do seem to be a bit understaffed however.
GameStop as a whole however, is not a corporation or company that deserves four stars in a review, and I say this because they force various, very toxic policies, upon their employees. They force them to shill out new games, and ask you for preorders and plenty of other products you may not even want. They also have almost impossibly high quotas forced upon the employees (a certain number of preorders sold, used games sold, etc, per week). And on top of this, they will buy used games/electronics from you, but at insanely low prices, only in order to turn them right around and sell them back to other people for prices almost as much as the game when it was brand new.
These reasons, combined with inconsistent sales and high prices, almost always makes buying or selling games online/digitally or through a small business more convenient than at GameStop. It should still be said that the employees here are good at their job and hardworking...
Read moreI went in to look for a game for myself after school shopping with my son. Asked employee about finding a game and checking out. She was on the phone and said that she was attending to something, and once she was done with the person on the phone that she would answer my questions and check me out. The phone did not look like the store phone. While waiting, I looked at all the games on the wall, and it was 15 minutes later. I got in the line area to check out. A family of 4 came in, and a larger man came in at that time that I was patiently waiting for her to get off the phone. I was waiting for about 7-10 minutes. The larger man went straight from the door right in front of me. I dont know if he couldn't see me or not wait for her. She told him he would have to wait until she was done on the phone with the customer. She was finished and went to him.
I was becoming so irritated because I was in line before him and not tended to first since I was in queue. My son got his things together and was tended to after the larger man was finished. The larger man may have come for a refund or in store credit, but he either should have seen the line waiting or she could have...
Read moreI took my two younger brothers here on Nov 1 around 1 pm for a new game each. When we were checking out the cashier was extremely pushy, trying to make us sign up for a monthly subscription. I declined 5-6 times, nicely but firmly. He was still not taking no for an answer. On my 7th time saying “no, do not charge me a monthly subscription” he groaned, rolled his eyes and gave me my total. It was higher than I expected and I asked what he charged me for, and it didn’t add up but he was very pushy to get me to pay. I did pay and looked at the receipt when I got home. He charged me for the monthly subscription without saying anything and hoped I didn’t notice. He also charged me extra for a protection plan I didn’t agree to. He made me feel very uncomfortable during the whole process. The extra $20 he charged me without consent might not seem like much but it was supposed to buy my 6 month old diapers...
