One star for obvious corporate greed. This is a review, a rant and a wake up call to Ulta. I've been a long time customer (30+ years) at Ulta for the simple reason that they have anything and everything a woman (or man) could possibly want to feel good, look good, and smell good. I can't tell you how many Ulta stores I've been in and dropped a Benjamin or 5 in a fell swoop, but I've not done that in a while. I have however, visited several Ulta stores around my area within the past 6 months. I was prepared to drop some hard earned dough, but I did not and I will not and here's why. It was the same at all stores, so kudos to the Ulta corporate office for consistency; here's to you for consistently having some 10 employees present for every one to two customers, for consistently following customers around and hounding them, treating us all like we're there to steal from you. NEWSFLASH: NOBODY (ESPECIALLY WOMEN WHO ARE IN YOUR STORE WHO ARE HARDCORE SHOPPERS and who engage in retail therapy for fun) or anyone else for that matter, like to be hounded and treated like criminals. It doesn't make us want to buy anything. One store even had their tester fragrances (what few they had) in hard to access places and I felt so uncomfortable, I could not even enjoy myself, the products or the shopping experiemce at all. I'm getting older and I don't appreciate being gawked at and treated like a second class citizen by a bunch of young dolled up clicky employees. HERE'S ANOTHER NEWSFLASH TO ULTA...it's women like me who dropped hundreds and hundreds in your store when you were but a wee fledgling company. ANOTHER NEWSFLASH, NOT ALL OF US SHOP ONLINE, SO PLEASE CONDUCT YOUR BUSINESS ACCORDINGLY, some of us that aren't beauty queens want to go and experience RETAIL THERAPY. Let me also say this, it's bothered me for a long time... Ulta throws so much product away, refusing to donate their "waste" to good causes, instead instructing their managers to cut open all containers even new ones that they throw out, so no one can get them. Wow. How about donating those products to homeless shelters instead of letting it go to waste? Now that would be for the greater good and for sustainability etc. which is I'm sure what you're really worried about, ha. Actually, I think it's more the profits, the shareholders and the stake holders that you care about. I won't spend a dime in your woke stores. I'm sure most of what is sold is poison anyway. Too bad it took this long for some of us all to realize it, I hope like heck your profit margins are suffering. You wanna see some great customer service, take a lesson from...
Read moreI walked into the store looking for a gift for my sister for Xmas. Admitingly I had no idea where to look so I decided to ask a sales associate for help. She was attempting to hang something up on the window so I decided to wait as not to disturb her. After a minute I could see she was struggling and offered to help hold the sign so she could slide the line through, a two person job, and she was doing it solo. She snapped at me and said no! and pulled it away. I said "So sorry for offering to help". No reply from the sales associate. A sales associate at the front desk then asked if I needed assistance but I simply told them no thanks and left. It goes without saying I won't return to this store but I have to wonder if this is how an employee there reacts to someone offering help, how would they react towards a customer...
