I never imagined my experience shopping for an engagement ring could go this smoothly and this well. Will and Debbie Marlow made the experience fun and painless. They never applied any pressure (as I'd assumed was implicit when shopping for jewelry...until I met them that is) and they were incredibly helpful in guiding me to select the right engagement ring style to fit the diamond that was handed down from my then girlfriend's late grandfather.

I want to share the story of what led me to select Marlow's Fine Jewelry to craft my engagement ring and why I won't shop for jewelry anywhere else from here forward.

Pretty early into our time dating, my then girlfriend told me her family had been holding a ring for her that was handed down from her late grandfather, who was a jeweler. She shared with me how close she was with her late grandfather and how special it would be to see his ring and one day use the diamond from his ring as the centerpiece for her engagement ring. Knowing how much this family memento meant to her, I knew I had to find the right jeweler to craft her engagement ring and restore her grandfather’s tarnished ring to its previous luster with the level of care I’d expect from my own family. Based on my heightened expectations for personal care and attention to detail, I decided to focus on independently owned jewelry stores and steered away from the big box stores. Based on the excellent feedback I received from friends at work and from online reviews I read, I decided to make a trip to Marlow’s one weekend...I’m so glad I did. With great enthusiasm, Will and Debbie walked me through the countless engagement ring options and helped me select a gorgeous setting for her grandfather’s diamond which she’s been complimented on non-stop since our engagement. They also took great care to clean and restore her grandfather’s ring to its original look. After carefully extracting the diamond from her grandfather’s ring, they replaced the diamond with a new CZ and brought the ring back to like new again. All of this they did while also making me feel as if I were family. This happened each and every time I visited the store. My now fiancé and I are sold on shopping for our cherished jewelry at Marlow’s from here onward. Our wedding bands and our future jewelry needs will be purchased through Marlow’s.

Since I can only give 5 stars to describe the level of attentiveness, attention to detail, care, service, and family feel that you’ll get from shopping at Marlow’s, reluctantly, that’s what I’ll have to do. But really, Will and Debbie are better than advertised and just such wonderful people that you won't want to shop anywhere else. I never thought I'd be the type of person who has a jeweler, but Will completely changed my mind! Here's why we won't take any of our jewelry elsewhere ever again.

Cleaning and knowledge: Once my fiance and I started talking about getting married, both of our parents loaded us with heirlooms that have been untouched for years. We brought everything to Marlow's to get assessed, cleaned, and checked out. He made everything from belt buckles, rings, and necklaces shine like new! It was very impressive. The knowledge he had on everything was unmatched. With over 40 years of experience, he took the time to explain everything calmly and offer repairs or resizes if needed. Every single time I go in to do something he shines my engagement ring up, it makes me so incredibly happy how great of a job he does.

Resizing: I had one family ring I've had my eye on since I was a kid resized and deep cleaned here for such a reasonable price. He cleaned it so well I couldn't believe it was the same ring. The center stone was opal, which I knew nothing about. He gave me a crash course on opal and gave options for changing out the stone down the road.

Retipping/resetting: The ring my fiance proposed with was a family heirloom diamond from the 1930's set in a platinum band. Since the stone was so important I had nightmares of losing it. He had it made at a family jeweler in Texas. I loved the ring, but noticed one of the prongs seemed uneven. I brought it in and Will examined it and saw and showed me that the place in Texas hadn't really finished the job right, and some of the prongs weren't nearly as sturdy as they should be. After he fixed it the prongs are even, nearly flush with the diamond for a low profile, don't snag on things, and I stopped having nightmares about losing the diamond!

Creativity and vision: We want our wedding bands to be created with diamonds from my parent's wedding set. Although we don't have the rings in front of us yet, we enjoy the vision Will is helping us create without even seeing them! We look forward to working the Will and Marlow's for anything else we need.

No pressure experience: We've been in a lot of chain jewelry stores and there's always high pressure salespeople pressuring you to buy things, upgrade, upsize, or just make a purchase you're not ready for. I love the fact that Will is so mellow, gives you the freedom to browse without breathing down your neck, and supports whatever you want. It's just a pleasant experience every time we're in the store.

I seriously have nothing but wonderful things to say about Will, Debbie and their shop. My (now) fiancée and I went to his shop on our anniversary to get ideas and try our very first experience with ring shopping…Can I just tell you we were so nervous (deer in the headlights) but we instantly felt at ease around Will and Debbie. There was ZERO pressure. I wasn’t talking to a salesman at some huge jewelry company I was talking to an artist about his work. I wanted a very particular cut and style that I couldn’t find anywhere at those national stores. At those stores, they told me “Sorry that’s not in style right now…but look at this one” My one request to my fiancé was that he work with Will to find our ring, he couldn’t have agreed more. When I told Will what I wanted, he told me he would order some of that cut in to the store! I couldn’t believe it! We came back the next week for a planned appointment for us to come in and learn how to look at diamonds. What an amazing experience! At that appointment we designed my ring people! When my fiancé proposed I was in absolute shock. The ring was EVEN BETTER than I had dreamed it would look. Will, I seriously cannot thank you enough for all of your help and guidance through this process. And for giving us such a wonderful experience that we will cherish forever.
