Delicious South Indian Cuisine. My visit was a delightful experience filled with the rich flavors of authentic South Indian cuisine. This cozy eatery offers a great variety of dosas, idlis, and other traditional dishes that make it a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of India.
Authentic and Flavorful Food: The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the food. The dosas are the star of the menu, with a wide variety to choose from. I tried the classic Masala Dosa and the Paneer Dosa, both of which were crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The accompanying sambar and chutneys were fresh and delicious, complementing the dosas perfectly. The idlis were soft and fluffy, just as they should be, and the vada was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The authentic flavors and quality ingredients made for a truly satisfying meal.
Friendly and Efficient Service: The staff were friendly and attentive. They greeted us warmly and were quick to take our order and serve the food. Despite the restaurant being busy, the service was efficient, and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. The staff were also knowledgeable about the menu and happy to provide recommendations, which was helpful.
Cozy Ambiance: The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy and inviting. It’s a casual dining spot with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The decor is simple but pleasant, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal with family or friends. The seating is adequate, although it can get a bit crowded during peak hours, adding to the lively atmosphere.
Value for Money: The pricing is reasonable, offering good value for the quality and quantity of food served. The portion sizes are generous, ensuring that you get a satisfying meal for the price you pay. The restaurant also offers a variety of combo meals and lunch specials, which provide great options for those looking for a hearty meal at a good price.
Room for Improvement: While my overall experience was positive, there are a few areas where Madras Dosa Corner could improve. During peak times, the restaurant can get quite crowded, which may lead to a bit of a wait for a table. Expanding the seating area or managing the crowd better could enhance the dining experience. Additionally, offering a wider variety of beverages, including traditional South Indian drinks, could complement the meal and provide a more complete dining experience.
In summary, it offers a delightful dining experience with its authentic and flavorful South Indian cuisine, friendly service, and cozy ambiance. While there are minor areas for improvement, the overall experience is highly enjoyable, making it a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious and...
Read moreIt pains me to write this review as I used to love going to MDC. After being a regular for many years, my last 2-3 visits have been dissatisfying and prompted me to write this review.
My biggest issue is with cleanliness…waiters look unkept, are wearing dirty clothes, touching water glasses to those dirty clothes, getting bowls of food with their fingers sticking into the food (instead of in a tray) and the floors being sticky and dirty. If the outside is not clean, I don’t know how the inside is. This place is not cheap… $5 for a small filter coffee is more expensive than Starbucks but the two are head and shoulders apart in cleanliness.
Next is general ambience and service. The restaurant now doesn’t seem an inviting place to go in and have a meal. The management hasn’t invested back in the business to enhance the upkeep of the place and its age is now showing in the interiors and dulling the overall ambience. Their AC too isn’t effective inside making the interiors stuffy. Service is also all over the place. Each of the last 3 times I’ve gone, I’ve had wrong times brought to my table for me to send them back, waiters/kitchen staff messing up my orders (bringing some items while forgetting the other items until reminded, special cooking requests not followed) and them bringing out the dessert before I’ve finished eating the main course and having the halwa get cold by the time you get to it. This seems like a common occurrence across other tables as well from what I observed. Worst of all the management doesn’t even apologize or recognize this when brought to their attention.
Lastly the food - its quality has gone down in the last year… food items are often brought out cold, food is oilier than before and condiment quantity for Idli & Dosa has gone way down.
With many new Indian restaurants opening in the area, MDC‘s days of having the first mover advantage are now over. I hope they can up their game to ensure their customers don’t take their business to other...
Read moreI will not be returning to this place again. Ambiance is pretty nonexistent, and service has always been just okay. You go for food, which is okay considering the lack of many South indian food options in the greater seattle area.
I have been here multiple times and brought family and friends. The taste of food and quality has definitely gone down-nothing was great. Additionally, we got the wrong orders, cutlery and plates weren't provided to us, service wasn't welcoming, people were just standing around while we struggled to get their attention, and things came out wrong or completely forgotten.
While paying, we saw a suprise gratuity added that wasn't mentioned to us. Honestly, at the time, this wasn't the big deal, but I was surprised after being dissapppinted by the food and horrified by the service. While stating the service wasn't good, can I get this adjusted? the server mentioned we needed to talk to the manager and call him over.
The first thing he says without asking about what happened is 'you wouldn't do this if it wasn't an indian restaurant' and angrily grabs the menu. I proceeded to say i'm not arguing your policy, but the service wasn't great. Can I adjust the amount. He says service is subjective. Again, I try to tell him what happened again. He interrupts, starts yelling, and walks off. After paying and not finishing my food (which i was working on bc they had forgotten it and the whole family was waiting on me getting and finishing it) I try to go reasonably talk to him again when he just starts yelling on the top of his lungs.
Beyond just an insulting conversation, his tone and voice were just plain rude reeked of sexism.
I recommend people try some way better restaurants on the east side and support establishments that can show basic decency. Sharing this experience in hopes that ownership and community are able to do something and take...
