When my friends told me about this place after it opened, I checked it out and was amazed by how much Pokémon stuff they had. Massive walls of boosters, ETBs, etc., some of which you'd rarely see at retailers anymore. Not to mention the atmosphere seemed friendly (and I loved the city pop music too). Overall it seemed like a pretty nice store and it quickly became a usual stop for me and my friends any time we came to the mall.
...At least until Surging Sparks came out, then I noticed things were a bit sketchy. Hundreds of boosters available, but being sold at $9 or $10 each. Around launch it kinda made sense because the set was (and still is) being scalped like crazy, but nowadays the market price has stayed around $7 and they still charge almost double retail price. I also found it odd how most retailers in the area would have little to nothing on the day of a restock while there's all this inventory here.
Now with Prismatic Evolutions it's officially gone out of hand. Having packs be a purchase bonus sounds nice on paper, like if you offered them at market (I think like $15 right now?) and had them at $10 with the bigger purchase, but having all PE product, including several tins, ETBs, and three packs, locked behind this system is seriously unfair to those who just want the set. Most people who casually enjoy Pokémon (myself included) don't have $1K they can just casually drop in order to get an ETB, and once again it's suspicious how much of this product they have when all local retailers are consistently empty.
I thought this place was nice but it's clear what their intentions really are. Do not shop here, there's a good handful of other LCSs in the area worth checking out instead, even with the current...
Read moretl;dr: Scalpers gonna scalp. Owner is rude and combative. Product way overpriced.
They have a good inventory and decent stock, but there's a reason for it. Ever since these folks came to town there have been basically no packs on shelves at any stores in town, except, somehow, magically, here at 1.5-2x+ the price. Bit convenient, dontcha think? They are scalpers, here to ruin another childhood hobby for a profit.
Customer service was middling at best, on top of no thanks for the sale, instantly moved onto the next customer without asking if we needed anything else and super pushy about the tablet when I already knew what I wanted. Caught them selling me a resealed 151 pack at 1.4x current price and haven't returned since, no point.
Could've been a decent store for this city but they chose profit over people, and it shows in their extremely combative customer responses to these reviews. You claim your weird gatekeeping methods and overpricing are to combat scalpers, that's utter nonsense, you ARE the scalper...
Read moreNever shopping here again. The store itself is beautiful and the number of pokemon products is unfathomable, not sure how they have stock when LCS's in other towns can't even hold on to a single pack of ANY pokemon cards. After I left TFIS because of the extra cost over market price (2-10 $'s over TCGplayer) 2-3 times over MSRP and the requirement of making a $100 purchase of other products to get a single Prismatic evolutions pack for $10! I took a trip to green bay to see family where I found 2 ETB's at a target for $60 each and not having to buy $1,000 in other products to buy 1 ETB. I'll stick to not buying prizzy for a couple more months to continue and ONLY pay retail for something that is a hobby and LCS are trying to price normal people out of a hobby. I hope predatory shops like these tank and have to close. Sad thing is I used to like coming to this store, staff is friendly and knowledgeable, ownership is trying to maximize...
