Gaia's Cavern is a magical place. The minute you walk in, you feel a sense of calm. The interior evokes serenity and peace. The space is beautiful and welcoming; you can tell there was a lot of thought and care That weren't into creating a warm environment. The painting of the deer in the forest, in the second room, is enchanting. It kind of transports you to a different place, which is exactly how I felt while I was at Gaia's Cavern. I'm a long time client of Aretha, who is the sole esthetician at Gai's Cavern. I've followed her since she worked as an esthetician in Chicago. Aretha completes the feel of the space with her warm, nurturing personality and several years of expert knowledge on skin and the products she uses. She goes well beyond what most estheticians do and have done to help my skin. She has a gentle, healing approach and the right touch when working on you. Aretha is down to earth, friendly and sweet. She will take the time to get to know your skin and discuss which facial and products are best for you. If it ends up that you have hyper sensitive, reactionary skin (like me), she will switch out product for something that works. Be sure to check out the handmade soaps and smell each one - they're all unique! Gai's also sells organic loose leaf teas and unique stones which have healing properties. I usually rely heavily on reviews when making decisions, so I was optimistic about trying Gaia’s. Unfortunately, my experience didn’t match what I had read. As someone who regularly gets facials and has tried many spas, this was by far the most disappointing experience, especially given the cost.

I booked the Ultimate Skin Smoothie, which includes extractions and a massage. The extraction process was minimal, and when I politely pointed out the areas where I typically have clogged pores, the esthetician seemed annoyed. The massage also felt rushed and lacked intention. From the moment I walked in, I didn’t feel welcomed, and it seemed as though the esthetician had already decided not to provide me with quality service.

Overall, I left feeling very let down because I had high hopes for this appointment. I promise you there are many other spas at this price point that use organic, skin-healthy products and focus on treatments that actually deliver long-term benefits. If you’re simply looking for products applied to your face without much care for lasting results, this place might be fine. But if you want a thorough, professional facial experience, I would recommend...

Do yourself a huge favor and get a facial from Aretha and massage from Eddy! All I can say is I had the best week getting both services. Aretha has magical hands, is incredibly talented and my skin has never looked better. One of the best facials I have ever gotten. Eddy is hands down one of the best masseuses I have ever gotten a massage from. I feel like a new person. Thank you and I cannot wait to come back. In fact, I may book a foot bath next!
