Expensive and the time was very short, relative to our port call. The Jeep was adequate for the drive.
The biggest issue was at the end. My wife left her phone cord plugged into the Jeep after dropping off. We walked about 5 minutes down the road before she realized she forgot it. I walked back to the office to claim the item but they were unable to find it. I called my wife to double check she didn’t have it. She did so and I asked again for them to check. While remaining cordial and civil with the two I was speaking with (male and female from Montana), I kindly asked if I could walk to the Jeep myself and check. I never called anyone a liar and never accused anyone of taking the cord. The female kindly told me she would walk up the hill herself and check because of traffic. I agreed and waited patiently, having a conversation with the other gentleman.
While waiting, I see the Jeep drive down the hill and a slender looking fellow got out of the driver’s seat. With a very pretentious and Karen look on his face, he waves me over looking like a mad school teacher. I kindly walk over to the passenger seat and he TELLS me to check. I check the dash and under the seat, but did not see the cord. I initially think it’s no big deal, the cord is lost.
Before I could let the gentleman know it’s not there, he asks, “are you happy now? See, it’s not there.” His lip is quivering and his hands are trembling. I look him in the eyes and ask if he’s ok. I tell him to watch himself because he doesn’t need to be a smartass. His eyes begin to water and he tells me he doesn’t appreciate anyone calling him a liar. I tell him I never called him a liar and he needs to cool himself because I’ve been professional and calm with him. I tell him I only wanted double check to tell my wife she did lose the cord. With his eyes beginning to tear up (due to his overwhelming, uncontrolled anger), he tells me he HAD to drive down to show me it wasn’t there. I inform him I offered to walk up there myself but wasn’t allowed, which I understood. I again tell him to cool himself and he tells me he doesn’t want to be called a liar. I told I didn’t call him a liar, and he states, “well that’s what I was told so I have to believe it.” I tell him, if he was so offended by a false claim, he should’ve asked me before acting like a child. I ask for his name but he refuses to give it to me, which I understand why now.
Eventually, the manager walks over and begins to speak with me directly. We close the passenger door while the gentleman sits in the drivers seat. While speaking with the manager, this child looks over at me with a childish smirk and waves at me. Eventually we walk away from the car while the child backs up the hill, again waving and smirking at me (before backing into the side of the hill).
Not once did I elevate my voice or cuss at this child (big change for me). This child, who the manager identified as “TJ” is unhinged and does not know how to control his childish emotions.
Looking back, which I knew then, I make a living in detecting deception. I wholeheartedly believe “TJ” stole the cord due to his mannerisms, emotions and lack of self control. The cord wasn’t and still isn’t the issue here. It’s the childish behavior of “TJ” that left a completely sour taste in my mouth.
This company has been reported to my cruise and I DO NOT recommend the use of them (so long as “TJ” works...
Read moreWe booked this through our cruise ship while in the area for a small amount of time. We had to take a bus loaded with all sorts of tourists from our dock and were told a jeep tour representative would meet us where the bus unloads, but there was no employee there so we walked around a bit before we found it. Jeeps were decent, with an iPad tour preloaded. I really wish that the company had a list of stops and allowed users to decide which ones they wanted on their tour, as it felt like an awful lot of driving for not much to see. If I had known more about, say Eagle Beach, and how far out it was, and that the water was ¾ mile away through a marshy area and you couldn't access it by foot, nor would there be any eagles, I would not have wasted my time to drive out there. So some options for the guests to plan their trip would have been better. You can't even see the next stop until you finish the previous one, and there was no info for which stops it included. We had two Jeeps for our party, and the iPad tour somehow got messed up on the other jeep and they couldn't figure it out,...
Read moreBooked excursion through Holland America. With cruise offer discount of $100 off price for a four door jeep for 4 1/2 hours it is not a bad deal assuming you have four people. We were not impressed with the the Unplugged Adventure team upon renting the jeep. Not especially organized. Had to wait to start our rental until earlier scheduled customers whom had yet to show up started there excursion. The directions given for using the installed i pad navigation were minimal. Upon returning jeep noticed there was a laminated cheat sheet between the front seats that would have been beneficial that no one bothered to mention. Most all of the destinations are meaningless with the exception of the Mendenhall Glacier which is the main reason for us renting the jeep. I will say we were able to spend far more time exploring the glacier and water fall then most other cruise ship excursions allotted. Over all not bad by Alaskan excursion prices , but could have been so much better with a little more upfront...
