I bought this light to replace a metal halide light that gave up the ghost. I called the factory to get the exact replacement part number of the LED model. The halide model I had included a photo cell so the light came on at dusk and went off at dawn. This model comes in a 40K - white light - and a 50K - bluish light. I wanted the 40K model. I got the exact model number including the photo cell. I could have bought this at an electrical contractor or Home Depot. I made the wrong choice - Home Depot. I took the part number to my local H/D, knowing it was not a stock item and that I would have to order this. I took the part number written on a post-it that was given to me by the super helpful customer service lady at Lithonia and handed it to the boy behind the service desk, ID# JLH53NF. I had a hard time keeping his attention as he was far more interested flirting with some other employee girl hanging around behind the counter than he was assisting me. I finally got his attention long enough to actually write up the order. I prepaid and walked away to do some additional shopping. I happened to look down at the order he wrote up and realized he wasn’t even paying attention enough to get the order correct. He ordered a 50K model. I went back to the service desk and wrestled his attention away from the skirt he was still flirting with long enough to show him the error he made. He tore his attention away from her long enough to cancel the order for the 50K model and re-ordered the 40K model. There had to be cute little pictures on the computer for him to click on to even get the order in. What I didn’t realize is that, even though I gave him the EXACT model number I wanted, that apparently there weren’t any pictures for the photo cell so he didn’t order the model with the photo cell. I received the light in much less time that I expected. The old light was mounted at the top of a 20’ tall building. I pulled the old light down and installed the new light in it’s place – no small feat. Directions were clear but the old light and new light looked very different internally. One was halide and the other LED so that didn’t seem too unusual. What I didn’t realize until I had the light installed is that he’d ordered the incorrect number yet again. This one had no photo cell. Now, instead of a light that I turn on and it comes on and off based on the outside light, it requires manual intervention anytime I want the light’s status to change. I thought about complaining about this at the time and I imagined that Home Depot might have taken it back but that meant I would have to pull it back down off of the building and make the 90 mile round trip to Home Depot. I opted to keep the light as it is.
Lithonia’s part in this was stellar. The customer service was beyond exemplary. The light works perfectly. The halide version of the light took like 6 weeks to arrive. The LED version took maybe 10-12 days – I received it way sooner than I expected. Home Depot’s part on the other had was terrible from start to finish. In fairness, my disappointment is mostly with customer service. Home Depot standards for hiring customer service personnel must be incredibly low. This kid acted like he was doing me a favor to even take my order and was annoyed to have to stop flirting with the girl behind the counter. At least that was the impression I got from my interaction with him. I’d love to say I will never shop at HD again but I’m sure the truth is that I probably will but it will after looking for what I’m after at Lowe’s, Menard’s, my local lumber stores and hardware stores. Home Depot will be the absolute last...
Read moreWorst home depot I have ever been in in my life! We went in looking for appliances, and were told by the sales person named Kathy that we could get a suite of appliances for approximately $2600.00 minus the extra cables, installation charges and extended warranties. She told us the deal was good until the 20th of January, so on the evening of the 19th, we called to make sure the deal was still valid the next day and was told by the manager Philip, that in fact it was good through the end of the day on the 20th. So we arrived on the 20th and went back to appliances to talk to Kathy at which point she set us down at a desk and kept us there for over an hour looking everything up and writing everything up. About approximately 75 minutes into the process she looked up and said "oh no the dishwasher is no longer available", then she said "oh no" again and said "the pricing ended the day before". She said she was going to talk to her manager and would have a comparable suite at a comparable price available to us after talking to him. However when we called back to talk to the manager, he acted like he never heard a word about this situation, nor did the young woman working back in appliances, since Kathy had gone home. So we were told by Philip that we could meet with Kathy when she returned in a week. So we set up an appointment to meet with Kathy and Philip today. 15 minutes before our appointment time Philip called to say Kathy didn't show up for work today but that we could come in and talk to him or Alec. When we arrived, 15 minutes later, we were told Philip was gone for the day but Alec was there.. They paged him and he came strutting up to us,, asking us what the problem was? We explained the situation to him and showed him the quote Kathy had given us, and he said "no that's wrong you misunderstood it." We misunderstood nothing! There was one price written next to the word promo for suite. Didn't matter that we had just bought a brand new washer and dryer there or multiple other purchases in the past, or that we had the quote in writing. Alec said they would not stand by it! Alec just turned his nose up at us and told us we could leave. At this point we were more than happy to do so, as we had already talked to one of Home Depot's competitors, and found that we could get everything plus additional features, the 5 year extended warranty, the extra hoses and the installation for only a couple hundred more than they had quoted us over at HD (HOME DEGENERATES) and were unwilling to stand by. Let me close by saying I will never do business with The Home degenerates in Liberty Missouri EVER again. Possibly never Home Depot as a whole! Do yourself a favor... Go to Best Buy. Their reps are better educated, and willing to go...
Read moreI visited the Liberty Home Depot today and had one of the worst experiences ever in a store. My husband had previously called a store manager and she explained how easy it was going to be for us to enter and get a refund on carpet that we decided against. We go in, wait in line and the worker (her name was Esmeralda) begin trying to help us. She had absolutely no idea what she was doing and was lost before we could even try to explain. She never works in that area, which we understood and were patient with as she begin trying to ask her fellow employees who DO work in that area for assistance. They had absolutely ZERO interest in trying to help her. They would shrug her off or just completely ignore us altogether. TWENTY minutes go by.. still no luck getting the refund to work. She continues to ask for help to no avail. My husband eventually called the store while we were in it and asked for a manager. The managers name was Phillip, who just so happened to be standing about 10 feet away from us but refused to come help. 10 minutes later he finally walked over, with another manager named Jamie (who Esmeralda tried to call over the intercoms but she never came) and they walked right past us, ignoring us entirely and helping other workers for another 5 minutes before one worker forced Phillip to come help. He wouldn't look at us. Wouldn't talk to us. It took him a whole TWO minutes to get our refund processed.. after we waited for nearly FORTY minutes. He was incredibly rude, his staff were incredibly rude. I wasn't even remotely mad at Esmeralda once I saw how awful the staff was towards her. She needed help and no one would give her a moment because God forbid they help another person while they stood around doing nothing. My husband and I are calling corporate on Monday because something needs to be done about...
