Having just moved to Kennesaw from Boston for work I was concerned I'd not be able to find many good options for Indian food. That concern was ALMOST dispelled by the great food at Pinch of Spice. I ordered the spicy Vindaloo curry goat. As a native Goan I can attest to the authenticity of this dish. It was almost like being transported back to my childhood days in Grandma's house. My life partner ordered the Malabar Matthi Curry which zim loved. It reminded zir of zir favorite childhood dish growing up in Tamil Nadu. In terms of food everything was of the highest quality from the drinks, entrees, and naan. I would of left a 5 star review but there were some major issues with the service. The waiter we had seemed to be some type of aspiring comedian. We advised zir that we are a non-binary couple and to refrain from using gender pronouns in our presence as it represents an archaic system of patriarchal oppression. Ze made some jokes about how ze identifies as a rabbit and started hopping around the restaurant with a carrot in zirs hand. We asked to speak to the manager who seemed very understanding and apologized repeatedly. Ze took over for the offensive waiter and offered free Gulab Jamun and tea. After we had paid the bill the manager asked if it was okay if the waiter apologized to us. We said yes of course everyone deserves a second chance. The waiter came out from the back of the kitchen looking like ze had been castigated harshly. What ze was about to say we could not imagine in a million years. Ze apologized in a condescending manner and said had ze known we were with the Brahman caste ze would of been more obsequious. The manager stood there like a dunce smiling not knowing that the waiter was again making a joke at our expense by insulting our Indian heritage!!!!!!!!! The waiter then took off zirs apron and threw it at zirs manager and walked out of the restaurant. There were 3 other groups in the restaurant who saw this go down and offered their contact details if we needed this story corroborated. We are leaving this review as a generous 3 stars because the food was excellent, the other staff were kind, and the manager tried zirs best to rein in this rascal of...
Read moreThis used to be, consistently, the best Indian you could get in Cobb county. It was run by a nice guy who always came by to ask how everything was. The place was staffed with good service. The food was top notch and consistent.
Over the past couple years everything is changed. I hardly see the owner(?) anymore. The food is hit or miss. When it hits it's a grand slam. But often the curry is watery and not as flavorful.
The service is way sub par as well. When eating there there's usually a single server working everything and, even when it's not busy, you get the impression it's 'always their first day.'
On one occasion I placed a pickup order. I gave them my name and they repeated it back to me correctly. When I went to pick it up I was told it wasn't available. 20 minutes go by and the guy asks for my name and what I ordered and says he's going to check on it in the kitchen. He comes back out and says they're almost done with it. Another 15 minutes go by and it's been this bag sitting on the table all along, the entire time I was there, just getting cold. The issue was due to them not writing my name down correctly (keep in mind I've ordered from this place with my name at least 100 times over the years without issue). It was the restaurant's mistake 100%. He just rang me up for the cold meal. Didn't offer to remake, throw anything in, or provide a discount.
When this place is good it's really good. But given the decline in service and consistency we've mostly stopped going after years of loving this place. Currently Vatica is probably the best Indian in Cobb county and the place we've...

Solid 3 stars. Food quality has gone up. Service is still struggling. I came in to place a to-go order and was quote 30 minutes. I asked for an update over an hour later so that's unfortunate. Very good food though so I will continue to work on finding a day/time that they can handle a more timely turnaround. This is probably closer to a 2.5 actually. So I just moved to the area from Alpharetta and this is the closest Indian restaurant to my new place. I ordered the butter chicken, bamboo fish, corn veg soup, rice, poppadums, assorted naan, etc. Starting with the butter chicken, the gravy was excellent and the flavor was very nice. The dish failed though because there was hardly any chicken at all. The chicken that was there contained a lot of bone and gristle. No bueno! For $15, please provide a decent serving of chicken! The bamboo fish had the same issue. The flavor was nice but there were only a few pieces of fish and they were DRY and FISHY! The container was mostly peppers and onions for $10. Not cool. The soup was fine. I think I may try their lunch buffet since my issue is with the portion size and meat quality but I will not order take out again. This is a huge disappointment because they are so close to...
