First off, I love Men's Wearhouse, overall. I usually love MW because, being 6'9", I've found them to consistently be great for having a wide selection of reasonably-priced, quality clothes that fit me. However, I've had a recent string of horrible encounters at this particular Lafayette location over the last few weeks. The following is going to be a relatively long account, but the story has a happy ending after finally taking my business to a different MW location out of state that I previously had good experience with.
So, I recently went to the local store looking to get measured and start shopping around for a suit for my upcoming wedding. Everything seems to go smoothly, at first - I was helped immediately, found a suit I like, and got measured since (to no surprise) it would have to be ordered. They even nicely offered to order it in for me to try on without even having to pay up front and return it if I didn't like it - great. A week goes by (well beyond the 3 days I was told to expect), so I call the store to check in. It turned out that the order was never actually placed and that it would be ordered promptly the next day and, again, arrive within 3 days. They were apologetic and, sure, accidents happen, so I went along with it.
After waiting another week since the last call and supposed order, I still hadn't heard anything. So, I call in - no answer on two call attempts during business hours. I leave a message restating the issue and, again, trying to see where the suit is. I don't hear back from them until the next day, stating that they had called and previously left a message about the suit having already arrived. I had no missed calls or voicemails in the past week, but I again went along with it since the suit was at least finally in store.
After going back to the store, I tried on the suit and a tailor immediately came over to go over the fit with me and pinned it up so I could get an idea of the final fit and look. It needed to be adjusted quite a bit, but I was actually quite pleased with the overall look and feel. I then inquired about pricing options, since it was for my upcoming wedding, and I knew multiple others would also be needing to buy suits. I was referred to the store manager.
I waited awhile for the manager - again, fine, because he was already helping someone else. During the wait, I looked over the suit I was considering and then noticed the size was, in fact, not what I had been measured at or requested, but larger - no wonder the jacket had to be taken in so much by the tailor. When the manager finally arrived, he quickly announced his shock at how I got the suit tailored without having purchased it or being 100% committed to it. I'm sorry, but A) I didn't request to have it adjusted and B) how am I supposed to know if I like a suit that was ordered in the wrong size, unless it's adjusted? I then inquire about options for wedding packages, and he makes it very clear that no such discounts are available, other than the generic sales that come and go. I then told him I would have to think about the suit and wouldn't be purchasing it on the spot; after all, it was specifically ordered in just to be tried on in the first place. He then seemed disgusted that I would come in to try on a suit without buying it and said the suit would go back into circulation for sale if I couldn't commit to buying it. Fine by me; I had had enough and had no interest whatsoever in making any purchase from this location.
In the end, though, Men's Wearhouse did come through, after I called a location (many hours away) that I'd been to years ago. They immediately were happy to help and offered a great wedding package with everything able to be done remotely. I never would have guessed they'd be able to take care of me so easily over the phone, when the local store handled business so poorly in person. Long story short, my personal recommendation is stick with Men's Wearhouse, but avoid this store at all costs, as long as it's operated in this manner under the...
Read moreFor our wedding, we opted to do business through Mens Wearhouse for the groom and groomsmen. We purchased a custom suit for my husband, and suit rentals for the rest of the groomsmen. To be frank, we had hoped that the entire process was going to be a lot smoother than it was. The initial consultation was held well before the wedding and seemed easy enough. Staff was extremely courteous and respectful. They offered their expert opinions on colors and styles to which we happily obliged. We left the first consultation happy and with everyone seemingly on the same page. However as we drew closer to the wedding things became a bit more rocky. A few weeks before the wedding we noticed a mistake regarding our tie/bowtie selection for the groomsmen within our online dashboard. To clarify, myself, my husband, and two of the groomsmen attended the initial consultation. Us four had simultaneously agreed on and verified the selections for the rental suits. Somewhere in between the first consultation, and us finally catching the mistake online there was a mixup. My husband went in store to rectify the issue, and again was met with nothing but respect. However when it came time for the groomsmen to pickup their rentals they were charged an additional fee for changing from a regular tie to a bowtie. Had we gone in and decided to make a last minute change, a fee would be completely understandable. This was not the case, we were merely correcting an issue that seemingly occurred on their end. Although this issue was fixed with refunds issued or fees not being charged at all, we felt this entire scenario could have been avoided in the first place.
Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of this entire process was the fact that suits arrived extremely late, with some being ready just less than 24 hours before the wedding. We were first told that suits would be ready for pickup a few weeks before our wedding. This was not the case, and when we called to find out when the suits would be ready we were told it was normal practice for them to arrive close to two days before the event took place. Our wedding took place on a Saturday, some of the suits arrived 3 days before however some alterations were needed. For those that needed alterations, they were not ready until late Friday afternoon. One of the rentals was not ready at all until Thursday, and we weren’t even notified that it was ready. The groomsmen had to find out himself when he went to the store 30 minutes before closing Thursday evening. Thankfully no alterations were needed for this suit, because had the groomsmen not gone in Thursday evening and was forced to pickup the rental Friday, there would be zero time for any alterations.
Ultimately everyone received their suit. They looked good and did their job. However the entire process was stressful and disorganized. If you choose to do business with Mens Wearhouse come with an ample amount of patience and...

They sell me a suit on clearance. Order the pants and the jacket wrong. Which basically forces me to have to purchase a more expensive suit because the one on clearance isn't available anymore. Which i understand it is not a clearanced item, but there was no willingness to really help me out and/or apologize for the inconvenience due to their mistake. The lady who helped me basically told me she can't do much about it. I asked for any help, she offered me $50 off. I look at my receipt and it says that she took $40.99 off. So she lied to me. I should have walked in and returned the suit for feeling scammed but after going against my better judgment, I let it go and the other suit comes in. Figuring this was just a fluke or one off with an unlucky situation. Later, after waiting and my event coming closer, the suits was right but i have to make altercations. The person told me it would be $50 more and will take two-three weeks to get in. I need this sooner and they were not willing to help get my suit going. The guy told me the rush fee is $25. No matter that my event is next week and I even planned ahead, there was no willingness to come down except for excluding the rush fee and no guarantee that my suit would even be completely done. He told me if i wanted it sooner for sure, i would only have to get my pants done and not my jacket but for the same amount. There was no one else at the location that i could go to so his judgment was final according to him so I returned the suit and going elsewhere. BTW, after going through the MWlisten@menswarehouse.com email, they have yet to respond to me...
