I could go on forever about how Game Attic compares to other Video Game Stores so I'll just make a somewhat short Pro/Con list of how this place compares
Pros: Game Attic will generally give you a lot more for games in store credit than Gamestop specifically for retro games, this excludes the trade in bonuses that Gamestop does (there are few places that will give you more in credit than Game Attic but these places are 45 minutes to an hour+ away. For example, Gamers Guild in Hudson will give you more in trade credit but they are more than an hour away.)
Game Attic has retro games and consoles which are usually in good condition and the selection is really good as well as they keep newer consoles and games in stock too. Most of the older consoles are kept in good condition.
Cons: The games and consoles are normally very high priced for what they are. This is acceptable sometimes because as I said before, they keep their retro consoles in good condition so it's worth it if you want to buy a quality console.
The staff can be very rude (one employees in specific). Granted the staff are very lovely people. That said, the rudeness that I have encountered may or may not have been deservered (I don't know, maybe I'm biased towards myself) But one thing is for sure is that if any employee at Gamestop had done this it could result in getting a lot of corporate complaints where as this is not the case at Game Attic being that it's a small business.
Another thing I would like to note is that, Game Attic will give you more for Trades but you have to ask yourself if it's worth the extra credit at Game Attic when at Gamestop you can do more with their trade credit (Gamestop credit being useable at more store, useable on the online store, can buy different gift cards with Gamestop credit) also Gamestop runs deals more often than Gamestop.
A bit longer of a review than I wanted it to be but I wanted it to be as accurate and as not biased as possible, I could have even made this longer. Not meant to be a negative review as this place is better than most retro game stores but my biggest complain was about the staff and could be better. This is why I give it 4 stars
TL:DR This place generally gives more for trades. They have a good selection of games. Prices are high but you get what you pay for. Staff...
Read moreSUPER UNPROFESSIONAL JUST CHECK THE BAD REVIEWS & HOW THEY RESPOND !!!!!! This is my experience i went through …. Purchased a few items from here on my stay in the area. When i went home i tried one of the games i purchased the same night and it was reading like a DVD. I took pictures and videos of me putting it into the tv as proof of whats happening. The next morning i called this shop to inform them of whats happening I let them know i live really far if they can help me out due to the game not working. Richard stated he will send out another copy of the game took down my address and name. About 3 days go by i called to see if they shipped out the game. A different man answers and says i spoke with Richard that he is not shipping out the game that i can ship it to them and they can look at it. I mentioned my pics and videos how there was a mark on the CD when i checked it. He said he doesn’t care about my pictures, there is no way he sold it to me like this, i could of done something to it and that if i dont give it back to him on how he sold it i wouldnt get a refund. I told him i did nothing but put the disc in the machine as it reads DVD. He said he dont know what i did to the disc. I explained that i did not like his attitude. How he was speaking to me and his customer service sucked. He was very rude the entire time while i was staying calm. I told him i just want my $15 back i did nothing to the disc i explained why would i do anything when i just want to play the game. He kept accusing me of doing something and didn’t want to give me a refund. He got real ugly and loud over the phone telling me to come inperson and he will look at it but doesn’t mean ill get a refund. I no longer felt safe or comfortable to go to this store I knew a big fight would happen if i went inperson. I had no idea i was going to deal with such trouble and disrespect. Unfortunately i had to get my bank involved and these people should be shut down. This is not my fault they don’t check their products before selling it and they sold me a disc that did not work. I did not deserve any of that nor did i deserve the stress and negativity on what that put on the body. So godbless you guys and know i will share my experience with...
Read moreWhen it comes to customer service, there is a bare minimum of respect and professionalism towards your customers; and Game Attic failed to reach it.
I accompanied a friend to come check out some figures in place for another friend while they were at work. Our friend is a collector, and values the condition of the item as well as its packaging. Anyone familiar with the culture revolving collections (of any kind) is aware of this; however, I believe the staff at Game Attic may be uncomfortable with it. While my friend was on the phone contacting our other friend about a possible issue with the box of a figure, I was distracted by the attitude of the female staff attending us. She became visibly uncomfortable and impatient with her body language, which I initially thought may be due to her having to attend other customers; however, we were the only people in the store, besides another staff member who was restocking merchandise. I then thought she may have been annoyed because my friend was communicating her concerned about the condition of the packaging to our other friend on the phone; but as a merchandise store like this, it would be a ridiculous to become upset over a very valid problem like this (ESPECIALLY if you're a store with many collectable items). This lead me to then think of the other possibility, which was discrimination against us. While my friend spoke on the phone, she would switch back and forth between English and Spanish. There is no need to be uncomfortable around people who speak a different language than you, but I digress. I'd hate to draw conclusions, but based on the reviews left here by people with Hispanic names, it's a possibility this store is condescending and not very welcoming towards Hispanic people. I'm not sure what the female staff member's name was, but she had a red undercut, and was NOT wearing a mask.
No masks during a PANDEMIC aside, and based on similar experiences with the staff from this store, Game Attic will be very lucky to survive if they continue to treat their...
