Honey...Honnnn-T, let me tell you....Miss Braid Master did that!!!!

I always try and frequent black-owned business and I wasn't disappointed. I had conversation (several text messages) with this venue before I actually visited. Mind you, I did extensive research before I decided this was the shop I wanted to try, as I am quite particular about my hair and who braids it.

I wanted very lengthy, large-sized black colored box braids, with a few of them being grey colored (highlights). I expressed this about 2 weeks beforehand. After agreement on the style, price, date and time, I was good to go.

I'd also like to mention that although the shop opens at 8am I asked for an earlier 7am time (as I wanted to be in and out) and that time was graciously accepted. I am usually disappointed that most beauticians or most venues period, are notoriously late and don't start on time. I absolutely hate when people aren't on time. But that was NOT the case here....I arrived several minutes before 7am and the braider was already in the shop honey, READ-T to do my hair. That alone immediately garnered a tip$$!

However, the reason for the 4 vs 5 stars is that I'd already discussed having some of the box braids highlighted in the color grey, yet they didn't have that color available. So I was definitely a bit disappointed. If they didn't have that color readily available I could have easily brought that hair color with me.

Other than that, everything else was great. It only took about 4 hours to finish my hair! (I do not like being in salons for excessive hours so this was superb!) . She didn't braid too tight and she left my edges/baby hair alone!! Yassssss! I certainly appreciate that!

I highly recommend and will absolutely return. I'll just stress & confirm beforehand that they have the hair...

Had a conversation over phone about what style I wanted. Sent her a picture of the style in the middle of the conversation. Went with her to buy the right hair. And she still didn’t do anything remotely close. Never had this style so not familiar with the process so I let her do it uninterrupted thinking she knows best. At the end when I realize what she’s done, she’s not even close to sorry or offers to try and fix it Her excuse was I didn’t know it was you I have so many clients you should have showed me the picture in the beginning. WHAT? not only did I send you a picture in text and you called me this morning to confirm the appointment so I know you still have it. But braiders ask their clients for pictures. She didn’t even confirm what length I wanted it. Just did what she felt like. (I wanted short passion twist, which we discussed on the phone.) she told me nothing could be done and tried to charge me 200 when on the phone she told me 150 because I was getting a SHORT style. She told me next time to show her at the beginning. Um? Ma’me there is no next time. NEVER GOING TO HER AGAIN. COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS AND...

You want to hear it, here it goes… I booked an appointment with Rachel after asking a friend for a recommendation and was not disappointed. I was able to schedule an appointment with ease for the small knotless and was able to get my hair braided in the same week. When I arrived, I informed Rachel that I purchased the hair I wanted to use on Amazon and she informed that it wasn’t the best hair to use. She was completely cool about the situation and offered me some similar options with the hair she had on hand. She charged me an additional $20 for this, but that was cool considering how much I spent for the hair I purchased on Amazon. Altogether it took a little over 5 hours to complete the style and I absolutely love the end result! I literally got so many compliments while out walking and running errands today.
