There is a lot of misinformation in reviews about this park. I have done extended stays here in 2018, 2019, 2022 and now 2024. It is one of my favorite places to camp because of the proximity to downtown Las Vegas.
Reviews complain about the expressway noise and that it is a parking lot. Completely true, but this isn't a national forest campground. It's urban camping. It is a way to live in your RV while visiting downtown Las Vegas. It's across a parking lot from the edge of downtown. It's a few blocks walk from Fremont Street Experience with the live music and light shows. There are vast food options in the area. You can park the RV and walk everywhere.
I myself mostly camp in federal campgrounds and BLM boondock. This is the only RV park that I pay for an extended stay. I do it because while I like remote campgrounds I also like the action and resources of Las Vegas.
There are complaints in reviews about homeless people. Downtown Vegas feels completely safe in the tourist areas but yes can be very seedy one block off the tourist areas. This park is on the very edge of the tourist area. In 2022 I did see homeless people in the area (in the area, not actually in the RV park or walking route to the park) but I think Las Vegas made a new law about no sleeping on the street. In 2024 I'm not seeing homeless people sleeping on the streets. I don't believe there has ever been homeless people living on the RV park property because it is private property that is patrolled by Main Street Station casino security.
Reviews talk about bicycles being stolen and the front desk did warn about this. I specifically asked about RVs being broken into and was told that has not happened. I see security driving around regularly, but even if they do a drive through once an hour that isn't a guarantee of safety. Crime can happen anywhere. Is it more dangerous here, with frequent security patrols, than anywhere else? I don't know the answer to that. It concerns me, but I am risking it to stay here. I have not had any bad experiences. I don't feel unsafe walking back to the park even at night.
Making a reservation from the Main Street Station website is broken. It always says no availability, at least when I tried. I recall it was this way in 2022 and it still isn't fixed in 2024. I would think if it doesn't work they would remove it from the website. This problem alone could be the reason why the park is never full. If I didn't know from past experience I may have given up, but I know from past years that if you call the Main Street Station casino there are sites available. Or just drive in and park in front of the bathrooms, walk into the casino (look for Main Street signs in the distance across the big parking lot), and the casino hotel front desk is friendly and helpful and will find you a site. The park is wide open. I have never seen it anywhere near full.
When I checked in they gave me a slip of paper saying to put bikes inside the RV to avoid theft. I am surprised that they don't instead offer a place to lock bikes in the more visible and higher security main casino lot. The California sister casino even has an indoor valet area that could be used. I don't have a bike myself so this wasn't a problem for me.
A review complained that they couldn't find the dog park. It's under the expressway ramps on the walk towards the casino. There are two fenced in areas.
Many small problems, but as I said the hotel front desk in the casino is friendly and did successfully find me a site. Hopefully what I say above will help newcomers. Despite the flaws this is still one of my favorite places to camp because of...
Read moreHave been coming here since 2009, full hook up was only $16.00. Now 2020, it's $29.00 for regular site; higher for so called "premium", which only means close to the bathroom and laundry. Still lower than other RV parks that sometimes charge for electricity usage. They have updated the electrical, sewerand water hookups, as well as men's/women's bathrooms. Within walking distance to Fremont St. Experience and all downtown casinos. Noisy location, constant traffic and occasional sirens, your view can be the freeway on ramp, but you get used to it, can be entertaining, earplugs work. Hotel security always present, sometimes on bikes. Have never had any problems with theft (use good judgement) or wandering vagrants. Make reservations with hotel, they assign spots when you call prior to arrival. Some of the clerks are accommodating. UPDATE FEBRUARY 1, 2022: So happy the casino and RV park are re-opened! We decided to make the trip, called for pricing. Like everywhere else, prices increased $48.00 weekdays, $58.00 weekends, any event weekends are $60 + . Still, this is comparable to other RV parks, or, as others would say, "a parking lot with hook ups". Where else can you park and sleep in your own bed and walk to Fremont Street? And I'm not referring to unfortunate homeless folks. The place is brightly lit up, and I mean BRIGHTLY, with surveillance cameras and security that drives through very frequently. There were only about 10 or 11 other rigs when we arrived, and the back lot under the trees is blocked off. Noisy as ever, but we knew that and don't mind a bit. Bathrooms, showers and laundry still available, but will only use the laundry at this time. The casino wasn't busy when we checked in, and their buffet has limited hours with prices we won't be paying to eat there. We hope things start to turn around for many establishments in Las Vegas. This place always amazes us. UPDATE 02/11/22: Getting out of Dodge before Superbowl weekend high prices. We have never had, nor did we during this stay, have a problem with theft or unpleasant riff-raff, probably because the weather has been unusually cold. Other people have left out chairs or their bikes are hooked up. The lot is brightly lit, and we see security make many drive throughs, even one on foot at around 10 p.m. The only reason for not coming back would be if they raised prices higher. This place used to fill up with Snow Birds before, and we miss some of the friends we made. It was sad to see it so empty, but glad they didn't shut down permanently like other things have...
Read moreWe have stayed here two times in the last two months. We love it. It cost $45 for a back-in and $55 for pull through. Within walking distance to Fremont street(0.50miles) and to the main street casino. We didn't have any problems. There were no full-timers, mostly people traveling through. The RV park is always empty. You can pay in-person at the desk. Do not pay the non-refundable $50 fee over the phone. Max length of stay is two weeks.
10/20/2023 We have stayed here 3x now. It is our favorite go to. I have notice it become more popular. We usually just come through and not worry about finding a spot. This time, there were only 3 large spots left. I also have seen more families and kids now. Security is always monitoring. There is never any people who shouldn't be here. It is an old parking lot converted into an RV park. Which is very smart in my opinion. However, the prices have gone up. We paid $172 for one night but it included the deposit too. There were alot of people walking back from Fremont. Very centrally located in my opinion. Also alot more ppl hanging outside.
11/10/23 We were changed $51.25 a night on the phone. The lady at the front desk increased it to $55 even though I had reserved a week in advance. Weekends are $61.25. My guess is they increase prices when events are in town. When we arrived at the RV park, a guest had been upset because someone stole his bike. Keep in mind that there are homeless people everywhere in this location and keep everything stored away. Security comes through quite often to monitor the area. We are here this week for a conference.
June 8-10, 2024
Overall there needs to be updates such as a fence around the property to prevent individuals from coming into the RV park. It was such a pain in the a** to bring the bikes into the RV and maneuver around them. Security came by right after we came in the RV park to put our bikes inside. This was nice and helpful. We spent $110 for two nights. There is a $100 refundable deposit. I was told this is in case we damage the electric or site. I thought it was funny because their RV electrical hookup is more likely to damage my RV if there is a surge or something goes wrong. I wish the spaces had coverings to help with the heat. Solar panels would be nice. This place is horrible during the summer. The RV park spots have water, dumping, and electricity. This location in no means is your normal RV park. Treat it like a truck stop with hookups. But even truck stops are not targeted as...
