I am a car fanatic since birth...lol. I have bought many cars from many dealers in my day and from formerly being in the car business I know the games and how most of them roll. My wife feel in love with the cx30. I started digging in and doing the research and was very impressed with Mazada as a company. We had a Mazda 3 some years back and had zero issues with it. Mazda reputation is up there with Toyota and Honda but only better in my opinion because it has a regular transmission vs a cvt and offers more bang for the buck. So my search and "car games chess matches" began. I had 3 semi local dealers I began with...all your typical dealers.came real close to a deal but there was just something about each of them that rubbed me wrong...attitude or price or feeling pressured etc. So for the heck of it I looked at some dealers out of state. I kept coming back to Berkshire Mazda because or the ratings they received. So for the heck of it I emailed them for a no games, out the door price.I was now in contact with Josh who didn't know me from Adam with a straight forward price with none of the add ons that dealers try to sneak in, and the price apples to apples was hands down the best. When I told my wife she thought I was nuts wanting to drive a hour away to do business when we had a dealership a stone throw away. I was even questioning my own sanity at that point, but she humored me and we took a beautiful hour backrode ride from Torrington up to see them.I pulled in the beautiful new facility and said wow!!! The lot and car display was laid out neat and orderly and not a cluster mess of hodge podge like most. We were warmly greated by Kevin who I also had been in contact with through the process. Right away things felt right! He was fantastic every inch of the way. The dealership was stunning and immaculate right down to the restrooms! While Kevin was getting our car ready for a test ride I shot my head into Josh to introduce myself and he was just as great and laid back as Kevin..Felt like I was in a 4 star restaurant instead of a car dealership! Took the car for a test ride and we both loved it! We had a appointment in the afternoon with another dealer but my wife...who didn't want to go out of town and thought I was nuts suddenly realized what a smart husband she had!!! Lol....Her words were...why would we go anywhere else! You guys got 2 new fans.I even am going to drive up for my service work too ! So we sealed the deal with Robert the business manager...Once you get that far the torture chamber usually begins...not here..He was just as laid back and nice as Kevin and Josh. He presented me with all my options and when I to my own choosing , declined he never tried to push anything on me like all the others out there!!...Long story short...This is the best dealership I ever worked with. They gain your trust and make it so easy to want to buy from them! I told my wife on the way home that they were the type of guys I would like to go out and have a beer with!    Read moreIn April they showed us a video of the brakes and said we needed new brake pads. So we got the new pads. We donât put many miles on this car. Maybe 20 miles in 2 weeks.
When we brought it back in for an oil change and check up in October they told me again that we needed new pads.
So we called and reminded them that they were just changed in April and the car doesnât get driven enough to warrant new pads again. Then they recanted and said âoh, that must have been a mistake, yeah, your brake pads look fine.â
That left us feeling very uneasy about how truthful theyâre being. Probably wonât be back.
UPDATE: The owner personally called to inquire about our previous low rating. After he did a little research he called me back and some things were clarified. Berkshire Mazda sends a video recording showing what they checked on the car and what suggestions they have for service. They also follow it with a text message that typically reiterates what was suggested for service in the video. Because we saw the text message first, we skipped watching the video. The text message said we needed brake service but in the video he says âbrake service isnât needed at this timeâ. Apparently, the text we received was for another car and was inadvertently sent to us. Next time, weâll be sure to listen to the video thoroughly. I greatly appreciate the due diligence that Berkshire Mazda and Jimmy Salvi showed in following up with us. We have changed our rating back up to 5 Stars. Thank you, Jimmy and...
   Read moreHad the BEST experience over at Berkshire Mazda! It was time to upgrade to a 3rd row for the kids, but I also wanted to have all the fun features for me too. I found the model I wanted (2023), but nothing was local. I figured I'd give it a shot and see if Berkshire Mazda could order it for me. I went with my boyfriend on a Wednesday evening after work, and by Thursday morning they were already on getting the car on the lot for me. Not only that, but my boyfriend also got a great deal on a brand new 2025 vehicle as well, and we purchased 2 cars in 1 week! Now the real experience; we worked with Dennis, who let me say is the GOAT. He made us feel at home and made the whole process smooth and seamless and kept us up to date with everything from start to finish. He made me feel like family in the best way. Everyone we met over the course of several days (extra time due to ordering the car and personal circumstances) was genuinely amazing and seemed to really care about every part of our experience. Special shout out to Josh who did the finding, purchasing, and numbers on my car. Even "Grey" (who is really Trey but had a great sense of humor to allow me to call him Grey) who I just happened to meet in passing on my way out with my new ride left a great impression and made me feel like I was valued customer and not just dollar signs as many other dealerships can make you feel.
