Aghast. I asked the fellas at the counter for my title. They looked befuddled, as if they'd never heard the name "Conan" uttered in the store before. I told them which publisher had the current license. One came and looked on the "Indie" wall with me but said it looks like they don't carry it. Then he asked his partner if he knew whether they carry Conan. Dude was as dumbfounded as his amigo but got up from his perch and looked again with me. He found the spot and informed me they were sold out. It looked like the only exposed card. So there's my first red flag, warning sign. The only Sold Out indie title and they were both without clue. So clerk says "Come back to the counter with me and I'll see if I have any on the computer.' As I sidle up across the counter from him - what does my little eye spy? The very issue of Titan comics Savage Sword of Conan #1 in magazine size I was there for in the first place! It's laying with two other comics in plain sight on top of the counter. I inform the clerks, happy, "Hey! There it is! That's what I was looking for! It was right here under your nose the whole time!" Literally.
Nope. Clerk 2 tells me that's probably for another customer. Special Order. Hmm. Doesn't look TOO special. It's just laying out on the countertop for anybody and their 8 year old to peruse. Dude looks up the value of a Magic card, discusses it with his partner as I wait and then takes a pic of the Conan mag and says he has to ask the manager if he can sell it to me. Manager, as you can guess, was nowhere in sight. But instead of asking, he looks on a clipboard and says "Oh yeah. Sorry. This is for somebody else".
I ask matter-of-factly, "So you guys don't put the special orders somewhere safe? Behind the counter maybe? You just leave them here on the countertop?" Dude looks me straight in the eye and says "Yeah."
I turned and left without another word, purchase-less and determined to NEVER. EVER. SPEND. ANOTHER. PENNY. IN THAT STORE. AGAIN.
Then they cry about the brick & mortar stores not being able to compete with online sales. Hm. I wonder why.
This used to be a good store. I knew the owner from when he first opened at their original location when he worked there personally. I supported the store a lot over the years but I've noticed the quality of the workers slide HARD in the ensuing years. I frequented less and less. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back. Or the barbarian that punched the camel's jaw. (Sorry. Bad Conan the Destroyer pun. Couldn't resist.)
Either way, I'm done with this store. Barring them somehow magically going the distance for me and making this right, this is one former Boomerang Comics customer that isn't flying...

I visited Boomerang Comics hoping to support a local business and expand my collection, but I left incredibly disappointed. The shop heavily marks up modern products — especially Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and — well above retail. I understand the market fluctuates, but charging 2–3x MSRP for in-print, widely available items feels like blatant scalping, not supply and demand.
What’s worse, they pull desirable singles from sealed products and then price them at inflated "market" value, leaving shelves stocked with junk nobody wants. It’s clear they prioritize profit over the collector community. Staff were indifferent when I asked about fair pricing or restocks, and I got the sense they knew exactly what they were doing.
There are plenty of shops (and online stores) that treat collectors with respect and don’t take advantage of hype. I won’t be returning here and can’t recommend this store to anyone looking for an honest or...
Read moreI messaged this company through ebay and inquired on a book, I wanted to know if an unused access code came with the book. I was given the run around through my communications for a day. The reply was "if a publisher put a code inside it will be there". No problem, I asked if I order the book and the code is not included can I return it, the reply "do research on the isbn, no returns". I said that doesn't answer my question, would you accept less then since I'm taking a chance and can't return it. The reply was "read the back of the book, my business course included with textbook, I just told you it was new" So I go to order the book and long behold the price has INCREASED (from 12 hours before when I first inquired) So I now ask if they would honor the price that the item was when I inquired. The reply "all prices are going up" So needless to say, they are shady, very unprofessional and the lack of customer SERVICE.. well it's actually...
