Went into gamers the other day on lunch break, kinda thought I would just be browsing a bit and just look at some games. Found sunset riders for genesis pretty reasonably priced which I couldn't pass up.
A few small things to point out, reading reviews no one asked me to tip, and the employees while being perhaps a little green at working a register were fairly friendly.
Ive always loved gamers and im happy to see then back in business. I truely hope there isnt any link between recent enployee theft and the owner as i believe the more places doing retro games the better.
As someone who almost exclusively plays retro games i love the idea of multiple stores in town. I will always prefer gameroom as they have treated me extremely well but i am a firm believer in innocent until proven guilty, and from my experience recently with gamers i couldnt be happier. I could have probably got the same game where i work just as fairly priced but seeing one of my favorite games in the cabinet had me busting out my wallet pretty quickly. I dont claim to know politics, but more game stores in town can only mean a good thing in my book! Ill be hitting ths store up on lunchbreak from time to time browse since its so close to my daytime job.
Im happy you guys are back in business, alot of good memories have been made at gamers, going all the way back to the n64 days.
Again. Variety is the spice of life, and while i love my part time job working for a competitor i love browsing video game stores in the hopes of finding something cool! Keep up the stock rotation and keep things fresh and i believe you guys will have a pretty solid customer base.
No ill will at all for you guys, keep stocking those shelves and you will see me for sure as a frequent patreon regardless if i have a way to get the stuff at the same cost online or at my job.
Im going to fall asleep playing some genesis sunset riders and kicking some bandido butt, much easier then turning on my arcade cabinet or playing the not as funcensored snes...
Read moreWelp, a lot of the reviews could have saved me some time had I read them before going there. The staff service is poor. I understand retail will burn you out. And I'm always trying to make excuses for employees struggling in retail and food service. But if you work in a game store, you chose it for a reason. The least you can do is be engaged with the people who come in. Say hi. Offer to look up stock when they're looking at OG games and retro stuff to be friendly and save them a minute when you have nothing else going on. Have conversations with people about your mutual interests. The one person I've engaged with each time is wearing sunglasses inside. I can't tell if he's even looking at me when I talk to him. Everything seems a bit chaotic behind the counters. Today I tried picking up a few games and some older retro controllers, but the same guy with the sunglasses was asleep behind the counter. I tried making noise to wake him up and not make it awkward. It didn't work. Tried coughing, pretending like I didn't know he was asleep and just asking questions loudly about prices. Dude didn't even flinch. Ok, I'm done with this place. Parking suck at Gameroom sometimes. But I rather deal with that any day now after today at Gamers. I just left the games I picked out on the counter and walked out. You don't want to stay awake to do your job, you can put the games back that I wasted my time...
Read moreThis used to be my favorite game store to go to as a kid, i would buy and sell games at a great price and never had any issues. With this stores reopening i was extremely excited and could not believe the prices! I have since found out that maybe i should pay a little extra and just go to gamestop or make the further drive to the 48th street location... i purchased a set of headphones for the xbox one, a controller for the xbox one, and a nintendo 3ds, as well as a few games. The games have been fine but the controller is already junk a month later, the headphones dont even work anymore, and i had to trade in the 3ds 3 times cuz the others cuz kept freezing. It's seems fishy to me that they take "new" products such as controllers and headphones out of the package to "test them". Its a factory sealed product.. why break the seal? Then the person is going to blame you, not the manufacturer, when it breaks. Maybe its just my bad luck but i wont be returning to this particular store store, the one on 48th absolutely, ive never had a single problem at that location, its a bit more of a drive for me but its worth it. I dont imagine it will be long until they say that this is another "fake review left by another game store", look at the reviews below and decide...
