On March 11th 2023 I celebrated my 57th Run around the Sun and Ms. beautiful Gina was my host. Ms. Gina shared with us the Ghana’s history of waist beads and prepared a delicious meal of jerk chicken, rice and beans, meatballs a delicious juice and much more. The African music was perfect with all the dancing and the gorgeous ladies receiving their waist beads.Gina is a beautiful professional sister with a gentle loving and caring heart and spirit. She really knows how to host a party. I will definitely be celebrating another event with Ms. Gina very soon. PEACE

The owner, Gina takes time to help you pick the perfect beads, teach the meaning of each one, and show the process of how the beads were handmade in Africa. Most people wear waist beads for fashion or for a trend but for me, these waist are my connection to Africa. I feel so confident and beautiful with them on. I don’t think I’ll ever take them off.

I bought my 1st 3 waist beads from Ayebea's Sankofa Marketplace via the Chicago Black Women’s Expo. At first I was nervous because I’m thick/curvy, but the shop owner gave me uplifting, positive affirmations as she put the beads on me. I chose the beads that spoke the most to me, and they are all beautiful and unique, as they represent meaningful elements. One string of beads even glows in the dark, which is so fun! I feel so empowered!! I have bought a couple more waist beads from her, which she also installed on me, that I now proudly wear. I look forward to buying more waist beads from her, including some ankle bracelets for me and my mom. I had the pleasure of traveling to Ghana through Ayebea's Sankofa Marketplace Adehye Roots. The experience was beyond anything I could've imagined. From the food, the people and being apart of the naming ceremony it was definitely something I'll never forget. I'm forever grateful to have had the opportunity to be able to travel with a group of beautiful people. Gina/ Queen Nana was very informative and understanding of everyone's needs and desires.
