I bought my 1st 3 waist beads from Ayebea's Sankofa Marketplace via the Chicago Black Women’s Expo. At first I was nervous because I’m thick/curvy, but the shop owner gave me uplifting, positive affirmations as she put the beads on me. I chose the beads that spoke the most to me, and they are all beautiful and unique, as they represent meaningful elements. One string of beads even glows in the dark, which is so fun! I feel so empowered!! I have bought a couple more waist beads from her, which she also installed on me, that I now proudly wear.
